Should I go to Playa Del Carmen next week?

Family Travel Insurance | Posted by admin
Mar 08 2010

My family and I planned and booked a trip to Playa Del Carmen about three months ago. We are set to leave next Saturday. We knew that we would go, so we didn’t get travel insurance. But, there is no way we could’ve planned for a possible pandemic. Is it advisable to go with all the reported cases of swine flu?
After careful consideration, barring any official travel warning for Playa Del Carmen and the surrounding areas, I have decided to go. It seems that worrying about it at this point is almost the same as worrying about drug violence in other parts; Pretty much useless.

I am traveling to my home country this summer to get braces. Is one month enough?

Family Travel Insurance | Posted by admin
Mar 07 2010

I am traveling to my home country (Peru) this summer to get braces, I am 15 years old. they are not horribly crooked but far from perfect. I will only be in the country for 1 month, is this enough time to get braces or will I have to get some treatment here and the rest there?

I am doing this over there because my family cannot afford health insurance while we have platinum level insurance back home.
I meant if one month is enough to get them on. I know it will probably take much longer than that to fix the teeth.

Round The World trip? tips please x?

Family Travel Insurance | Posted by admin
Mar 05 2010

Heyyy all!!!

I am planning my 1 year long world trip at the moment and would appreciate some help/opinions.
I am from Australia. Leaving around the end of the year and I know where I want to go:

All of Asia, Europe, and South America/Central America (Including the islands)
Morocco, Egypt, and somewhere else in Africa where I can do a great safari trip + get a culture shock. + Dubai and somewhere else in the Middle East (not too dangerous though).

What I’m unsure of is how long I will need in each continent and country (Keeping in mind I have to do this all in one year unfortunately – due to rtw ticket conditions). My plan is to maybe contiki it /topdeck it around Europe during the world trip then at the end after the actual rtw coming back to Europe to do all the places I missed in my contiki tour and revisit the places I didn’t have enough time in. Followed by living with some family in Serbia for a while and maybe working somewhere in Europe for a while then going to the US and working there for a bit.

Also how much do you think I will need?

> Accommodation (not wanting resorts/5 star hotels just somewhere clean, comfortable, and safe)

> Food (wanting to experience all the tastes of the world + also having the money to eat out at expensive restaurants from time to time – in places such as Paris and London)

> Tours (Contiki type tours etc)

> Extra flights, train/bus trips, taxis

> Entry fees, shows, and other amusements eg Moulin Rouge, Museums, Palaces etc

> Souvenirs (not just for myself but for friends and family too)

> Partying, drinking, clubbing, bar hopping, going to festivals etc

> Travel Insurance, visas (Including living and working ones), and other travel expenses.

Also do you think it is a good idea to send things back home as I travel (due to the amount of places I will be going with all the souvenirs, bit of shopping etc)?

I would also love to follow the sun/summer (how to I go about this) and don’t worry I plan on seeing Europe in winter after the world trip while living there too :p

Thanks in advance

Pre-existing condition for travelling between India to US?

Family Travel Insurance | Posted by admin
Mar 04 2010

One of my family members is coming from India to US. He had stent put in about 3 years ago. He is in stable condition and taking same medication during that time. I am trying to get travel insurance for him and they stated 6 months look back period for pre-existing condition. Is this considered pre-existing condition? I talked with ten different travel insurance companies and they are telling me different answer.

Do we have any experts in this forum
Kumar,

I talked with trip insurance folks and they told me it is not covered.

EV
Also they are not US citizens and don’t have social security number. I think Trip Insurance normally for US citizens.

I.D. for travel ling from Canada to the US?

Mar 02 2010

Ok, I am aware that this is a long shot, but here goes. I am planning on going to New York this weekend, it was a last minute weekend get away planned by my friends. We are driving from Quebec, Canada to New york. My problem is, I can not find my birth certificate, with a large family things get lost, my little sister put my important papers somewhere but thats gettig off track because I am pretty frustrated. Ok, so this is all the I.D. that I have,
An expired passport, it expired in 2001
An expired Medicare card, new one is in the mail, but wont be here before friday
My LEARNERS driving permit (it has my photo on it, it allows me to buy cigarettes)
My social insurance card
A letter head note from my work stating that I have worked there more then six months (I needed this to renew my medicare card because I lived in the states for one year in 1999)

I recently flew from Quebec to B.C. and for the plane my learners permit was enough I.D. but this is from Canada to the U.S.
If someone could let me know if this would be enough, or give me a number where I could call and find out if this enough it would be very much appreciated THANK YOU IN ADVANCE :)

What is the cost of living in Hungary?

Family Travel Insurance | Posted by admin
Feb 27 2010

My husband and I are going to move to Hungary where most of my immediate family lives. We will have a house paid for. To give a worst case scenario of neither of us working in Hungary or earning any income…

1.How much money would you say would be enough?
2. Earning what interest rate?
3. To give a monthly yield of how much?

… would be enough to pay for only the necessities of life: food, transportation, utilties, car insurance and necessary supplies of daily living?

Do not include travel and gifts and anything absolutely "unnecessary". Assume a family of 4 including 2 small children is being supported.

If you live around Szeged, I am especially interested in your answer.

Where is an affordable, warm place to move to?

Family Travel Insurance | Posted by admin
Feb 26 2010

My family wants to move to a place where there’s no harsh winters, the living is affordable, employment rates are good, there are good public services and health insurance, good school, and its not too far west. [We're currently in upstate NY]. We want a place that we won’t be totally bored, and [not to be prejudice] but there’s not a lot of "ghetto"ness lol.. Just a safe place really. We DO NOT want to travel too far, because we won’t be able to afford it.

Is there a possibility of reporting an accident without increasing your auto insurance?

Family Travel Insurance | Posted by admin
Feb 24 2010

The situation occurred on Friday when the weather here was really nasty. Lots of rain and wind. I wouldn’t normally travel outside of my house in this weather, especially not with my kids, but I had a terminally ill family member that was going to be taken off of life support and I wanted to be at the hospital with my family. As soon as I got onto the freeway my minivan hit a large puddle in the road and started to hydroplane. There was another car that I noticed on the right side of the road that we were drifting toward, so I adjusted the wheel slightly to the left, then just as we were about to get control back, a burst of wind hit the car and spun us around so we were facing backwards. I hit the embankment, which left a small dent in my front bumper, and there are a couple scrapes down low on the passenger side of the car. Would the insurance company see me as being ‘at fault’ in this? There were at least 10 other reported accidents in a 6 hour period at this same spot.
I was travelling at 50 mph or less, well below the posted speed limit, and also below the flow of traffic. I was staying in the right hand lane to allow faster vehicles to pass, which unfortunately was where this puddle was.
Thanks for that ray of sunshine czekoskwigel. Do you happen to work for an insurance company? We were all shaken up by the incident and don’t you think that I felt guilty and at fault hearing the fear in my children’s voices? I agree that we should not have been on the road at all. I was merely asking if the insurance companies all see this as travelling ‘too fast for the conditions’ or if there is such thing as a hazardous road condition that could cause a no fault accident.

P.S. With no posted speed limit on how fast you should be travelling in bad weather and with the flow of traffic being 15 – 20 mph faster than you’re going with no one else spinning out of control, how are you to know what ‘too fast for the conditions’ is?

"President" 0bama is asking us to report our family, friends and neighbors who talk about 0bamacare.?

Family Travel Insurance | Posted by admin
Feb 23 2010

The U.S. Gestapo…. I mean government… is asking Americans to report their family, friends and neighbors to the white house when you have a CASUAL CONVERSATION about 0bamacare or recieve emails that your family, friends and neighbors send you regarding his 0bamacare plan.

Didn’t Hitler and Stalin do this kind of stuff?

Isn’t this a prefect example of fascism?

http://www.whitehouse.gov/blog/Facts-Are-Stubborn-Things/

"There is a lot of disinformation about health insurance reform out there, spanning from control of personal finances to end of life care. These rumors often travel just below the surface via chain emails or through casual conversation. Since we can’t keep track of all of them here at the White House, we’re asking for your help. If you get an email or see something on the web about health insurance reform that seems fishy, send it to flag@whitehouse.gov."
Paul S : There are these things called "links"…. you click on them…. you can read…. you can educated yourself….. use them….. they’re good!
Les S : I guess when your a left-wing nutjob… 0bama can do no wrong!
The KGB and Gestapo SS also "asked" people to do the same thing!
rosco : OK BUDDY…. and you’ve been reported to my balls….. start suckling!

I need to find someone that can donate a car to a needy family.

Family Travel Insurance | Posted by admin
Feb 21 2010

I have a niece in the Sacramento area of California and one day on her way to work she was side swiped by a big rig when he had pulled over on top of her. Her car was totaled and she survived with minimal injury. However the car was given its worth and not completely paid off leaving 00. debt. This family has had a very rough go with job loss, lack of health insurance, and mounting bills, and a small child. They were a one car family and now have none. They have been loaned a car but need to return it in 2 weeks. They have no where to turn because of the excessive bills and other issues. They both work but travel a distance she works in Stockton and he works in Sacramento and the live between the two. All the online car charities are backe up with applications for a car and not accepting anymore until 2009. Is there some one out there that can help??
I am not looking for a loan! I m looking for someone that has a car that maybe they would have traded in or sold but instead would like to get a tax deduction for the GIFT.

I am going to be traveling to a dangerous area of Mexico for my job, help?

Family Travel Insurance | Posted by admin
Feb 20 2010

Next week, a week from today, I am going to be traveling to Mexico for my job. I am going to be traveling back and forth between San Diego and Tijuana for a few days.
My company has arranged for personal taxis to take us from our hotel room door to the building we are going to in Tijuana. We never have to walk outside if we don’t want to other then from the car to the front door. I am really scared though. I have taken out travel insurance in the even that I die my family will get about ,000,000 yadda yadda.
I really want to know how to dress and act though so I do not draw attention to myself. I need to look professional, but I do not want to look like I have money or am anyone important. I just want people to not notice me at all.

How should I dress and act?

Help regarding high risk pregnancy, triplets, 19, travel?

Family Travel Insurance | Posted by admin
Feb 18 2010

Hello All.

First of all, I would like to say that I appreciate you taking your time to read this mini-novel/question. I have a few, and hopefully this will help with some answers.

Now to some facts:

I am 19 years old, and have been with my current…partner for quite some time. We are financially stable, although are currently in different states.

I have a severe case of PCOS, aka: Polycystic Ovary Syndrome.

I am ADHD and OCD.

I have been on the pill for over 2 years.

I have had 2 miscarriages, and I had a daughter out of incest at 15. She was 18 weeks early, and lived only 3 days. I suffered from pre-eclampsia, and it was a fairly rough pregnancy.

I tested as a carrier for the Tay Sachs gene.

I am adopted, with no previous knowledge of my biological family or past medical history.

I am around 240 lbs, with a WHR of .72 (I am very curvy, with extremely wide hips, and a larger bust)

Now, current facts:

I am pregnant….with triplets!

My doctor has offered a reduction, and says that I have a high liklihood of losing one, or even all of the babies. I conceived the week of April 6th though April 9th.

My partner has a son who has Aspbergers syndrome and ADD.

My questions and concerns are as follows:

I am planning to travel by car for a 10-13 hour car ride to be with my partner. (We just found out today!) Is it safe for me to travel during my first trimester? My doctor is at a free clinic (I just was laid off from my job 3 days ago, and lost my health insurance) and gave me the all clear to travel. What precautions should I take? Is there any way for me to travel easier? How can I stay comfortable? Any advice?

I am already showing a little bit! Am I crazy and seeing things, or is it really possible for me to be seeing this? I’m not talking a HUGE difference, but enough I can see one. Am i hallucinating?

My doctor mentioned a reduction to improve my chances of carrying to term. I am not a supporter of abortion except in certain situations. These triplets were conceived naturally at a million to one chance. Again, I have PCOS, and I was on the pill. I mean, seriously, what are the odds? Why should I have a reduction? WHy shouldn’t I? Isn’t "multifetal reduction" just another term for a partial abortion?

I have serious guilt issues regarding my daughter, and the loss of her. Could stress and guilt make things worse in my current pregnancy?

I’m exhausted all the time. I slept for 15 hours two days in a row! I am usually high energy and can go a 48 hours without sleep (due to work) Could there be anything wrong?

How can I make my pregnancy easier?

What exactly is "vanishing twin" and what are the odds of it happening to me?

Is travel out? What can I do to make the trips easier?

There is a high liklihood I could lose this pregnancy, my partner has his hopes up, but not too high just in case. Should I follow suit?

Thats all for now. Thanks for reading!
I am adopted. My first pregnancy was out of my adopted family. I consider it incest but by technical terms I guess its not.

My doctor said I was 6 weeks along. I estimated conception. Could I be wrong? I know its triplets because I had an ultra sound. There were three seperate sacks.

Sorry for jumping around a lot, my mind is just whirling!

Feb 15 2010

A friend of mine has an extremely rare terminal cancer. It will require a lot of travel and other expenses the insurance wont cover (like experimental treatments, etc)

I know I have heard of funds set up for individuals…Where family and friends can go to the bank and donate or donate with a card. All I can find info on is how to set up a charity organization…Is it possible to set up one for an individual; if so how?

Can anyone give me sound advice on a Turkish man I just met?

Family Travel Insurance | Posted by admin
Feb 14 2010

really need someone’s help to make a good decision here. I met a man from Turkey (actually he is of Kurdish descent, but was raised in Turkey). He has been in the U.S. for 3 years, residing in SC and working in hotel management. He started calling me askim and telling me seni seviyorum very quickly…within 2 or 3 phone calls. Now I am very attractive…a good deal more attractive than him, but he seems to be very sweet and has a heart of gold it seems and so that is what is most important to me. I am attracted to him though as well. He wants to move to where I live and says he will give up everything to come here and that he wants to have my babies. He wants to get married here and in Turkey and has apparently told his family about me. He is 26 and I am 27. My family is not very accepting of me even dating him so far (I mean pissed!). They say he is in it to be a citizen and have a better life plus my family has never travelled outside the U.S. and are a bit racist and ignorant (though they try to act like they are not). Should I end it with him? My gut says he is a good person, but then one thing does bother me…he offered to split the airfare for me to come see him, yet I put the air on my credit card for now. I bought travel insurance though in case I change my mind about going to see him. Shouldn’t he come see me first if he is that serious? Help me decide…honest, well-thought out responses only please!!!

Should I take off and travel Europe for a month or so?

Family Travel Insurance | Posted by admin
Feb 12 2010

I am a 22 year old male who graduated from college last year. I had a tough time finding a job, so instead I have been working for my dad through our family run insurance business (it has been around for 50 years). I have about ,000 saved up right now and live at home. I just recently broke up with my girlfriend, who was supposed to move in with me but decided she didn’t want to move away from her friends and family (she was a college gf living a state away). I have no expenses right now and nothing tying me down except my job, which I can always get back because it is family run.

That being said, I am flying to New York in 3 weeks to help move my sister into her new place (going to college). I have free flights through US Airways until October of this year, because one of my buddies works for the airlines and I am his registered guest. So I fly free, but I have to as a standby passenger.

If you were me, would you hop on a flight to Europe and backpack for a few weeks or a month? Or would you save your money, fly home, and move into a place of your own? I need advise and different opinions ……

Feb 09 2010

I have been working at my family business(insurance) now for about 3 years. My father recently told me that if I wanted I could take over the business when he retires. I was very excited about this. Recently Ive been thinking that if I do take over the business I will be stuck. I wont be able to live in another state or country or do anything else other than what Im doing now. This isnt what I want. I want to be able to live in GA and London and Boston. Do a bunch of different jobs and live in different places. Has anyone done that or is anyone doing that right now. Any tips on a future gypsie? How is your life this way? Is it everything you thought it would be? Age please also.

Are you expecting family or guests coming over for the summer who can obtain a visa up on arrival?

Family Travel Insurance | Posted by admin
Feb 06 2010

If so, I would like to share some infos with you which I found out today by arguing with the Immigration staff.

1. visa up on arrival
2. extension for another 30 days. Procedere:
go to Immigration, apply, go to typing office, get travel insurance and return to Immigration. Costs: extension = Dhs 500, typing = Dhs 60 and insurance = Dhs 40.

I have 2 kids here during the summer. One American and one German. Both have international healthcare. When I asked why I need another insurance, nobody could explain. I went to the head of Immigration and ask how logical it is when visitors can stay here for 30 days without insurance and for another 30 days they need insurance. Answer: at the Airport are not insurance companies present! What a logic.

In case you have guests coming over, apply for extension in advance and avoid all this hassle. This applies for Dubai ONLY.

Thought somebody may be interested, because I never had these kind of infos before.

Take care.
@Hans: your daughter needs healthe insurance in case she wants to extend her visa. For the first 30 days no insurance needed. Makes sense, right?:))

@Annt: since when are the UAE (or any other country) entiteled to issue an american passport? With an expired passport you even won’t make it onthe plane.
@Hans 1: guess Authorities forgot about kids coming here on summer break. Anyway, it has to be an insurance acknowledged by the UAE. Means, your daughter needs one.
@Hans2: found out today, that there are 2 kind of visas. One for Dubai only and one for whole UAE. In this case extention can made in Dubai only.
