Would a traumatic diaphragmatic hernia which was repaired in 1997, 13 years ago (which was the result of an RTA in 1974) be considered a pre existing condition for travel insurance. Since Feb this year my husband has felt that it may be recurring and he has a hospital appointment in a few days time. In January we took out a travel insurance for a holiday which is in 13 days time,(22nd April) being completely unaware of any symptoms or in fact that a recurrance could be possible (if in fact that is what is happening). We have never declared it for a travel insurance before. My feeling is that the repair 13 years ago was successful and therefore the condition didn’t exist otherwise we would have declared it. I realise that it may depend on the insurance company but what do you think is the likelihood of us getting the cost refunded. (£3,000!)
The small print says that a hiatus herna is not considered a pre existing condition but his hernia was more complicated.
My boyfriend & I have been together 14 months. He is ALWAYS at my house, and every family gathering we have, he is invited to. He is practically a part of my family, he is coming on holiday with us this year, and has been to New York with us, and always comes travelling with us, which my parents pay for. My parents do so much for him- buy him things, pay for holidays, cook his favourite meals whenever he comes round, my mum is even offering to put him on her car insurance when he starts to drive. However, I NEVER get invited to anything with his family
even family meals. For example, tonight he had to go home early because he had a family meal at home, with him, his mum, dad, two brothers, his eldest brothers girlfriend and their baby, and both his nans. I was not invited to this meal, he didnt even suggest it. I was pretty upset, because I felt left out, and like I was not welcome in his family. I really want to feel like a part of their family but I just don’t get invited to anything, they never pay for anything or do anything for me, which is upsetting as my parents try really hard to keep my boyfriend happy. In the 14 months we have been together I have probably been to his house less than 15 times. It’s not that I don’t want to, just that I don’t get invited ![]()
How do I make my boyfriend see that I am upset about this, without offending him and his family. He KNOWS I want to be a part of his family but ![]()
I don’t know what to do ![]()
PLEASE HELP :’(
I have met his family a few times and they are really nice people.
Either as a stand alone thing or as part of a travel insurance policy.
I’ve booked a holiday through OT beach.com and now I’m terrified incase they go bankrupt or the airline goes bankrupt or the hotel goes bankrupt. I need good insurance! lol.
Definition of Supplier Failure Insurance from traveleden:
"Supplier Failure Insurance is an insurance policy which protects consumers if the selected suppliers of the component parts of their holiday goes into liquidation" ie. flight operator, hotel etc.
So yes, mbrcatz, this is what I’m looking for.
I’ve already booked by debit card, I don’t have a credit card.

I had what they called a "unexplained sponteneous episode of haemoptysis" last Feb (basically my lungs filled up with blood which I coughed up) and was hospitalised for two weeks. This was over a year ago and my doctor says it’s perfectly safe for me to fly/go abroad. However, I was never diagnosed with any illness or condition as they did numerous tests and couldn’t find the cause of what happened. My doctor says it was just "one of those things", that I probably just had a very weak blood vessel that leaked and that my symptoms do not add up to any known condition.
I am going on holiday next month to Holland and Germany. Because I have not been offically diagnosed with anything, do I need to get travel insurance for somebody with a pre-exisiting medical condition? Each company website has a list of conditions, but obviously I cannot say I have any.
If I get "normal" travel insurance, for people without illnesses or conditions, will I be covered should I get any future episodes of haemoptysis whilst I am abroad?
I am so confused. Things would be so much easier if I actually had a proper name for what I have… but "haemoptysis" is not a condition.
HELP!! I am flying from England (I am English) and then will be travelling throughout Holland and Germany for just over a week.
Before anybody tells me not to get travel insurance because my E111 card covers anything, that’s wrong. That just covers you for basic medical care.
Ok so I just got back from Hollywood and my phone was lost or stolen on the last day. I had travel insurance but it wasn’t taken out by me personally so I don’t know if it is covered. What should I do and what is the likelyhood that it is covered?
I work in insurance and am so bored of it… i want a job that pays well, where you dont need fancy qualifications and you get a good amount of time off! – I only get 20 days a year plus bank holidays at the moment.
The job must be exciting, and something slightly challanging.
Does anyone have any job ideas?
I currently have 9 a-c gcses – including english, maths and science, and BTEC national certificate in travel and tourism.
Please help
Hi, I am going on a holiday from Australia to the USA and Canada in March. I have purchased travel insurance and it states
"Section 16 Rental Vehicle – Up to 00
Cover for car excess payable on Motor Vehicle Insurance resulting from your rental vehicle being:
* Stolen
* Crashed
* Damaged and/or cost of returning rental vehicle due to you being unfit
The 00 would cover the excess from the rental car company but do I need some sort of liability insurance too? As I will be hiring a few cars for about a month. The companies I’m looking at are National car rental and Thrifty. I’ll be picking up the car at LAX
Any advice would be good thanks
Why would they offer international travel insurance if its not valid in another country?
hi, im from the uk on holiday in the usa, am i able to see a doctor with my travel insurance, its not really an emergancy but needs to be treated and i dont have the money to pay for the medication.
Last year I travelled from UK to Dominican. Within 2 days I was struck down with a virus and chest infection which ruined the holiday and cost me a fortune in insurance excess! I then travelled from UK to new york. within two days of returning home I got flu! I started a job in November working in police stations underground.. very stuffy, germy etc and I got the worst cold ever I was bed ridden for a week and had it for 3 weeks! I then travelled from UK to Egypt this December two days later I got Norovirus which again ruined the holiday… and this weekend I got another viral cold! making me bed ridden..
what the hell is going on????????????????????????? my partner hasnt caught any of these illnesses (apart from norovirus) I eat well so it cant be my diet.
I am thinking of boosting my immune system with eccanacia (cant spell), or garlic capsules.. vit c, zinc etc… I’m desperate!
I also found something called thieves oil but I cant difuse it as I have asthma
any advice or knowledge of why I keep getting so ill?

I want to take my boyfriend on holiday on his 18th all the way in next october. Somewhere not too far from London, where we are now, like Paris or Rome for a couple of nights. The problem is, he may need some sort of medical check up and I want to tell him as late as possible so it’s a real, unexpected surprise.
How do I got about getting it booked (What is travel/health insurance etc)? What the latest I can tell him? .. etc
Thanks x
I’m about to go on holiday to Rome for a dirty weekend with the mrs
haha.
Was just wondering whether to waste any money on travel insurance or not.
Cheers!
I’m in the early stages of planning a move to London which will hopefully happen after the new year but I’m not really sure where to start. So I have ALOT of questions. I’ve bumbered them so its easier for everyone haha.
Ive got the obvious applications, Visa and Passport. I’ve acquired the right forms – first time passport and ancestry visa.
1) How soon should I lodge those?
I know you have to apply for a passport before you can apply for the Visa so obviously I would do that first.
2) Do I need to have passport photos taken before I lodge the applications?
3) How do I go about finding a rental property? Is it even possible for me to rent in the UK?
4) Is it possible to find fully or partly furnished places?
5) Which are the bad areas on London? (Im 20 years old – Moving out of home, have lived with friends before but never alone).
6) How do I go about looking for a job?
7) How do I apply for a National Insurance Number?
How much money do you think I should save before I move to London?
9) Is London and expensive city to live in?
10) Will I need travel insurance if I’m going to live over there or is travel insurance only for holidays?
11) Should I get any sort of medical insurance before I go?
Sorry, I know thats alot but its all so confusing.
Incase theres anything Ive missed…
12) is there anything else you would like to add or you think I should know?
Also, I should add. Ive mentioned before. Im 20 years old. From Australia. Currently living at home, taking time off my University Course (Nursing). Im basically wanting to go to London for a while as Im not sure where I want to go with my life and basically Im just looking at it as an adventure. I think Im at a time at my life where I need to go out and be independant. You should also know that Im not afraid of failing so dont be kind with your comments because I know moving overseas is going to be hard!
Sorry for a long post. Thanks in advance!
Ps. I just thought of something else!
13) What do I do with bank accounts? Can I keep my Australian accounts and open ones in London or do I need to transfer my current ones?
im irish and goin to thailand for 2 months backpacken and then oz for a year on a work holiday do i need it. it is very expensive here. i just dont know if its worth gettin.
I’m travelling to the USA in a few weeks. A friend in Los Angeles has an old Mercedes that he says I can use whilst there on holiday. I also hope to buy a cheap old Van to use to drive up to Canada. I assume Insurance in compulsory to drive in the USA like it is here in the UK. As these are both private vehicles and not hired, I would have to find my own Insurance. How and where do I get Insurance. I cant find anything that is of any help anywhere? Thanks
if a person goes to the UK on vacation and they have travel insutance and they have an accident while in the UK and they need emergency treatment from a hospital will that person who is not a UK national have to pay for medical treatment while in the hospital or would they get medical treatment free as part of the NHS (I know most Americans think its evil beyond words) or would they have to pay and claim off the travel insurance when they got home. How does the NHS work when it comes to holiday makers when they come to the UK?
