How many more of our children will have to die before our border our laws are taken seriously by those sworn defend both?

Illegal alien Francis Hernandez is on trial this week in Arapahoe County District Court for an automobile crash that resulted in the deaths of three people, including a 3-year-old boy.

Francis Hernandez, faces a total of 19 charges, including vehicular homicide, leaving the scene of an accident involving death, and child abuse resulting in death.

On September 10, 2008, the parents of 3-year-old Marten Kudlis buried their son at Fairmount Cemetery, a few days earlier, he was killed while waiting for his ice cream in an Aurora Baskin and Robbins.

An SUV speeding through the intersection of Havana and Mississippi, with Guatemalan national Francis Hernandez at the wheel, slammed into a pickup truck, which was then pushed into the ice cream shop´s window. The toddler was sitting at a table in front of that window, and was sent flying as the truck came crashing through it.

Police say that Hernandez was traveling at a speed of at least 70 mph.

After the crash, police say Hernandez jumped from his Chevy Suburban and fled the scene. He was later apprehended without incident.

Marten was taken to the hospital, but died a short time later due to massive internal injuries.

The two women in the pickup truck struck by Hernandez were Patricia Guntharp, 49, and Debra Serecky, 51. They were both pronounced dead at the scene.

KMGH of Denver covered the child´s funeral and reported that the first song heard during the service was Eric Clapton´s "Tears in Heaven."

In a heart wrenching display of grief and anger, Marten´s mother Marat Kudlis shouted: “That bastard!,” referring to the illegal alien believed responsible for killing her son. Between the tears, Marten´s father cried out: “I really loved him.”

The rabbi conducting the service told the heartbroken family and friends: “This burden feels like more than we can bear because it is so sudden. It´s a parent´s worst nightmare. It does not seem fair and it is not fair to lose someone so young.”

A teddy bear was placed in the tiny open casket which held Marten´s body.

Following the funeral, many of the mourners returned to the crash site, which became a makeshift memorial, filled with flowers, stuffed animals, and cards with expressions of sympathy and support for the Kudlis family.

One of those mourners, Duane Stokes, told a KMGH reporter: “I helped pull Marten out of the building. I was right there with him. He squeezed my hand. I held his hand until he passed on. My fiance and I were just saying a prayer to Marten and just getting one last glimpse of everything around here. Just to say goodbye to him.”

Marten´s death hit the community hard and his funeral was attended by many people who had never even met him, but were saddened and angered by his senseless death.

Hernandez who has 12 aliases and two dates of birth, has been arrested an astonishing 19 times since 2003. The Colorado Bureau of Investigation has also, confirmed that Hernandez has been arrested by nine different police departments. Despite his lengthy arrest record and illegal status in this country, Hernandez has never been deported, nor have deportation proceedings ever been started against him.

The police report shows that after Hernandez ran from the scene, he phoned his girlfriend, Brenda Aleman, asking her to come pick him up at a local Hooter´s restaurant. The report reads: “(He) stated after the accident he was scared and fled the scene, he was afraid he would be taken to jail because he had no insurance, no driver’s license and that would prevent him from seeing his kids.”

Hernandez and Aleman have two small children.

It should be noted that the Congressional Research Service has classified both Aurora and nearby Denver, CO, as a “sanctuary cities.” The term refers to a policy taken by cities which refuse to inquire into an arrestee´s immigration status, or a refusal to inform federal authorities when a suspect in custody is believed to be or known to be an illegal alien.

Shortly after little Marten‘s death, retired Congressman (R-CO) and former presidential candidate Tom Tancredo said that Denver Mayor John Hickenlooper, as well as Colorado Gov. Bill Ritter "have blood on their hands."

While both Hickenlooper and Ritter have long been criticized for their opposition to enforcement of our immigration laws, Gov. Ritter tried to deflect any attention from his office onto the federal government and called Tancredo´s comments “out of bounds.”

In response, Tancredo issued the following statement: “While it might be politically expedient to blame Washington for what happened this week or to characterize my criticism of him as ´out of bounds,´ the fact remains that Gov. Ritter is in charge of enforcing and keeping Coloradans safe. It´s time for Gov. Ritter to take concrete steps to ensure that illegal aliens like Fran
why not ask the same question about the police and the rest of the local legal system, given that this fool was arrested 19 times since 2003. Are they somehow less culpable?
George do your own work and go ask why, I do not need to since I already know why.

Why do Mexicans believe immigration laws are not suppose to apply to them just because they have a family?

Long Term Travel Insurance | Posted by admin
Nov 15 2009

GRANDVIEW, Wash. — The need for immigration reform topped the list of concerns that Latino leaders brought Thursday to Sen. Patty Murray, D-Wash., who held an hour-long “listening” session at a senior center in the Lower Yakima Valley.

“These laws are ripping families apart,” said Marisol Avila of Consejo Eastern Washington, a counseling and referral service. “We have families that can’t be families.”

Avila and others said adult children are afraid to travel back to Mexico when a parent dies, out of fear they won’t get back into the United States. Spouses detained by immigration authorities because of their illegal status are having to leave their young children with older siblings or relatives.

And laws governing the path to citizenship are so slow to churn that people have been waiting more than 20 years for their chance to become legal.

Avila was one of 13 Latino community leaders, educators and business representatives invited to meet with Murray at the Grandview Senior Center. While there was no specific agenda, Murray acknowledged at the beginning the importance of Latinos as a constituency.

“You are very important to me. This is a chance for you to make sure I know what’s on your minds,” she said.

Several speakers, including Jesus Hernandez of Wenatchee and Ricardo Garcia, founder of Radio KDNA in Granger, urged Murray to work on passing the Dream Act, legislation that would allow undocumented young people to become eligible for citizenship in exchange for a mandatory two years in higher education or military service.

“A top priority should be passage of the Dream Act. It’s a no-brainer,” said Hernandez, who is a member of the Wenatchee School Board. He said the United States needs to guarantee an educated, domestic workforce instead of relying on imported skilled workers.

But the conversation kept returning to immigration as several speakers told stories of families separated and living in fear.

“Whenever there is a raid, everything in life takes on underlying sense of fear. The fear is there and it never goes away,” said Carol Folsom-Hill, who runs La Casa Hogar, a nonprofit organization in Yakima that helps more than 400 immigrant women gain their footing in work and home life.

Murray, who is expected to seek her fifth Senate term next year, said she heard the message.

“It’s difficult, hard and a tough balance,” Murray said of passing immigration reform. “We’ve tried it twice in the Senate in the last three years but you’ve given me good reason to go back and say we have to try again.”

Murray said Congress is focused on job creation and health care at the moment. She predicted that the Senate likely would be able to pass a bill before the end of the year but said Republicans are trying to block it with procedural tactics.

“They are dragging things out incessantly,” she said.

Tomas Ybarra, vice president of instruction and student services at Yakima Valley Community College, asked Murray to fight for more funding for community colleges, saying they are facing a convergence of increased demand and declining resources.

“I am fearful this will result in a denial of opportunity for our students,” Ybarra said.

While several speakers asked for help to combat gangs, Wapato Police Chief Richard Sanchez said the focus on gangs is misleading.

“We have everyone scared that every Hispanic child in the community is a gang member. That’s the media. We’re making it too big a deal,” Sanchez said.

Murray, who recently secured 0,000 for an anti-gang initiative in Yakima County, agreed that if all that adults talk about is gangs, kids will think that’s their only option in life. She encouraged all the Latino leaders to be role models.

“You need to tell students you have a master’s degree, Marisol,” she said to Avila, who recounted recently helping a relative pick apples. Between the two of them, they earned for one bin and it took two and a half hours.

Health-care administrator Vickie Ybarra of the Yakima Farm Workers Clinic, who was in the audience, asked Murray to consider the state’s Basic Health Plan a model for offering health care insurance to the working poor.

Hernandez of Wenatchee, who is executive director of Community Choice PHCO, a health-care network, said he is discouraged by Republican health-care proposals that would deny care of children of undocumented immigrants.

My long-term boyfriend has Cystic Fibrosis, and i have conflict?

Long Term Travel Insurance | Posted by admin
Nov 03 2009

My long-term bue has Cystic Fibrosis, which causes him to have severe lung problems. Due to that medical issue, he cant travel- so guess who has to. I live a whopping 1,495 miles away from him- I live on a coast, he lives in tornado alley. 6 hours total flight time in an airplane at minimum. So now that you have the idea, lets continue. I am a senior in HS, and looking at colleges. I have no college fund, so when i found out that I got a scholarship for completely 100% free coverage for any state university, I was darn pleased with myself. But he wants me to go to college down there, so we can be together. the thing is though, I don’t know if I want to move down there and lose my health insurance, possibly to not even get a single scholarship! (I plan on going in for a sculpting major) So he cant move up here- he’ll die, thats a fact. But i don’t know if i could support myself down there. He gets extremely upset whenever i mention college up here. Id love to go down there, but I don’t want to incur a lot of debt. Not to mention I’m the one leaving my entire family, life, and my best friend behind. Any suggestions?

How do you feel about AARP?

Long Term Travel Insurance | Posted by admin
Oct 11 2009

GREAT LETTER TO THE AARP

THE AARP

This letter to the AARP says it all. It is a must read regardless of your age. Some people just make sense in what they say. This lady certainly does. Please forward this to everyone on your contact list.

This was sent to Mr. Rand who is the Executive Director of AARP

Dear Mr. Rand,

Recently you sent us a letter encouraging us to renew our lapsed membership in AARP by the requested date. I know it is not what you were looking for, but this is the most honest response I can give you. Our gap in coverage is merely a microscopic symptom of the real problem, a deepening lack of faith..

While we have proudly maintained our membership for several years and have long admired the AARP goals and principles, regrettably, we can no longer endorse it’s abdication of our values. Your letter specifically stated that we can count on AARP to speak up for our rights, yet the voice we hear is not ours. Your offer of being kept up to date on important issues through DIVIDED WE FAIL presents neither an impartial view nor the one we have come to embrace. We do believe that when two parties agree all the time on everything presented to them, one is probably not necessary. But, when the opinions and long term goals are diametrically opposed, the divorce is imminent. This is the philosophy which spawned our 200 years of government.

Once upon a time, we looked forward to being part of the senior demographic. We also looked to AARP to provide certain benefits and give our voice a power we could not possibly hope to achieve on our own. AARP gave us a sense of belonging which we no longer enjoy. The Socialist politics practiced by the Obama administration and empowered by AARP serves only to raise the blood pressure my medical insurance strives to contain. Clearly a conflict of interest there!

We do not understand the AARP posture, feel greatly betrayed by the guiding forces whom we expected to map out our senior years and leave your ranks with a great sense of regret. We mitigate that disappointment with the relief of knowing that we are not contributing to the problem anymore by renewing our membership There are numerous other organizations which offer discounts without threatening our way of life or offending our sensibilities.

This Presidential Administration scares the living daylights out of us. Not just for ourselves, but for our proud and bloodstained heritage, but even more importantly for our children and grandchildren. Washington has rendered Soylent Green a prophetic cautionary tale rather than a nonfiction scare tactic I have never in my life endorsed any militant or radical groups, yet now I find myself listening to them. I don’t have to agree with them to appreciate the fear which birthed their existence. Their borderline insanity presents little more than a balance to the voice of the Socialist Mindset in power. Perhaps I became American by a great stroke of luck in some cosmic uterine lottery, but in my adulthood I CHOOSE to embrace it and nurture the freedoms it represents as well as the responsibilities it requires.

Your website generously offers us the opportunity to receive all communication in Spanish. ARE YOU KIDDING??? Someone has broken into our ‘house’, invaded our home without our invitation or consent. The President has insisted we keep the perpetrator in comfort and learn the perp language so we can communicate our reluctant welcome to them.

I DON’T choose to welcome them.
I DON’T choose to support them..
I DON’T choose to educate them.
I DON’T choose to medicate them, pay for their food or clothing.

American home invaders get arrested.

Please explain to me why foreign lawbreakers can enjoy privileges on American soil that Americans do not get?

Why do some immigrants have to play the game to be welcomed and others only have to break & enter to be welcomed?

We travel for a living. Walt hauls horses all over this great country, averaging over 10,000 miles a month when he is out there. He meets more people than a politician on caffeine overdose. Of all the many good folks he enjoyed on this last 10,000 miles, this trip yielded only ONE supporter of the current administration One of us is out of touch with mainstream America. Since our poll is conducted without funding, I have more faith in it than one which is power driven.

We have decided to forward this to everyone on our mailing list, and will encourage them to do the same. With several hundred in my address book, I have every faith that the eventual exponential factor will make a credible statement to you..

I am disappointed as hell.
I am scared as hell.
I am MAD as hell, and I’m NOT gonna take it anymore!

I can list Obama’s accomplishments can you list Sarah Palins?

This is not counting the over 10,000 bills in the state senate.
Obama:
Senate Accomplishments:
Since entering the U.S. Senate in January 2005, Senator Obama has written approximately 890 bills and co-sponsored an additional 1096.
Senators Obama and McCain have been running to be the nominee for President for their parties since January 2007. Therefore the 890 bills written by Senator Obama and the 1096 he co-sponsored all occurred in a 2-year span. That shows that he is a prolific and tireless Senator.
Because of the long-drawn-out nature of passing laws in the Senate many of his bills are still in committee and some were vetoed by republicans. Senator Obama has an impressive record by anyone’s standard.
For someone who supposedly has no record (according to his competitors) his record of accomplishments are extraordinarily impressive and inspiring.
· Democratic Republic of the Congo Relief, Security, and Democracy Promotion Act.(This is the first federal legislation to be enacted with Obama as its primary sponsor) Became law
· Secure Fence Act. Authorized construction of fencing and other security improvements along the United States–Mexico border
Became law
· The Lugar–Obama Nuclear Non-proliferation and Conventional Weapons Threat Reduction Act. The Bill expanded the Nunn–Lugar cooperative threat reduction concept to conventional weapons, including shoulder-fired missiles and anti-personnel mines Became Law
· The “Coburn–Obama Transparency Act” eliminated gifts of travel on corporate jets by lobbyists to members of Congress and the establishment of USAspending.gov , a web search engine launched in December 2007 and run by the Office of Management and Budget to require lobbyists to disclose the candidates, leadership PACS or political parties for whom they collect or arrange contribution and the combined amount of the contributions Became law
· Amendment to the State Children’s Health Insurance Program providing one year of job protection for family members caring for soldiers with combat-related injuries Passed in Senate
· Energy Policy Act of 2005 to add 0 million for Function 270 (Energy) for the demonstration and monitoring of carbon capture and sequestration technology by the Department of Energy Passed in Senate
· The Comprehensive Immigration Reform Act (after amendments became the Secure Fence Act which became law) Passed in Senate
· Education Bill. Require that the Director of Mathematics, Science, and Engineering Education to establish a program to recruit and provide mentors for women and underrepresented minorities who are interested in careers in mathematics, science and engineering. Passed in Senate
· Summer Term Education Program. Supports summer learning opportunities for low-income students in the early grades to lessen summer learning losses that contribute to the achievement gaps separating low-income students from their middle-class peers Passed in Senate
· Iraq War De-Escalation Act of 2007 a bill to cap troop levels in Iraq, begin phased redeployment, and remove all combat brigades from Iraq before April 2008. Republicans voted against
· Iran Sanctions Enabling Act supporting divestment of state pension funds from Iran’s oil and gas industry Republicans voted against
· Sponsored an amendment to the Defense Authorization Act adding safeguards for personality disorder military discharges, and calling for an official review following reports that the procedure had been used inappropriately to reduce government costs Republicans voted against

So, I didn’t take excellent care of my teeth in college and now I don’t have insurance..?

Long Term Travel Insurance | Posted by admin
Jul 26 2009

I had braces in Middle School that were removed when I was 13 or 14.. Anyway.. Afterwards, my wisdom teeth grew in (around 17/18). Now, I have slightly crooked teeth on the bottom.
(I worry about them and the way they look – very insecure about it. I just told my fiance about three weeks ago how much it effects my self esteem and he just laughed and said my teeth are fine. Even when I got a whitening kit, he laughed at me again.. saying I was worrying about nothing…)
For a long time now, I have made sure I do I mouthwash at least once a day (I travel with my job – and often fall asleep before i realize it since I can work a 13 hour day after a 4 hour plane trip).. Anyway.. I’m scared of flossing.. I do it sometimes, and it feels like my teeth are loose afterwards and most of them bleed.

I’m trying to do better – and I’m looking for decent insurance – I’m just so scared of the long terms effect of this.
Can this be helped if its not gone too far, or have I damaged my dental healthy for life??

:(

I can list what Obama accomplish can you list what Palin did? For 1 year as governor of 600,000 people?

TELL ME WHAT PALIN HAS DONE , SHE HAS AS MUCH EXPERIENCE AS MY MAYOR WHO IS A PART TIME GARBAGE MAN.. NAME HER EXPERIENCE?

Laptop broken by airline?

Long Term Travel Insurance | Posted by admin
Jul 11 2009

Hi!

Basically during a recent international flight my work laptop was broken by the airline. When I checked in I was told my carry on luggage, containing my laptop computer was too heavy. It was the right size but about 3 kilos over. I was told to check it in, which I did, although I was nervous about it as the laptop was in it. I pointed this out to the lady at the check in desk but they did not suggest I carry on the laptop and basically did not offer any alternatives. I asked for it to be treated as fragile and nervously left it with them. It was not labelled fragile like I asked when I collected it at the airport on the other side. When I unpacked it it was broken. Its outer shell had a long crack on it and the screen is not working properly. It is completely unusuable. I am really upset as it was work property and I forgot to renew my travel insurance recently. I sent an email of complaint to the airline and they sent a generic cut and paste reply from their terms and conditions saying that as it was fragile they won’t assume responsibility. I sent one back saying I accept it was fragile but I felt their employees should have advised me differently. What to do now? (Sorry for venting!)
I just wanted to add too that I did ask to bring it on and basically was told check it in or miss the flight which was not an option due to work. So no to all those you have answered in a insulting manner, I was not stupid., I was not given a choice. That is why I’m so annoyed!

what can i do legally legal advice elder?

Long Term Travel Insurance | Posted by admin
Jun 26 2009

what can i do legally? i am a 25 yr old female, i was in college and fell and almost died and broke most of my bones, since then i have trouble walking and chronic pains. anyways my father who is 65 and shows signs of early alzheimers as well as narcasistic personality disorder, he abused me and my family.hes very controlling and a little delusional.
he went to court against me after a fit of range, he went to secret meetings with a psychiatrist who never met me and talked about me to the psychiatrist and got the psychiatrist to write a letter saying im severely mentally ill and mentally incompetent.
this psychiatrist never met me and the court never asked for proof of meeting me, they just accepted a letter handed to court by my father even tho im 25. theres a hippa law and if your over 18 it is impossible for an adult to get another adults medical records. so it means the whole thing is bull
the doctor would have to have signatures and insurance info on me if i did see him
i called me local police station they told me i have to drive an hour to the police station near the drs office location. which is many towns away outside my city. i dont drive and cannot walk well so i havent been able to travel an hour to a police stattion
i wanted to have this doctor arrested
so my father went to court without me he hired an expensive lawyer and did not tell the judge i have trouble walking and cannot get to court. i was redridden with broken bones
so he won by default because i couldnt get to court. i also had no lawyer to help me collect evidence or give legal advice
he lied in court, he also made friends with a court evaluator and spoke to him for a few months about 20 times about me, making up stuff,
i met him once and he wrote on a paper everything my father said as if it were true

the court papers say ludicrous things such as i do not know how to tie a shoe or read a clock or shop or use a toaster or cross the street. its full of lies..many lies none is true, they even missplelled my name

obviousely the whole thing is bull but my father is tormenting me, he now has adult guardianship based on lied,he got the court to say im mentally incapacitated saying i was born with mental retardation and cannot do things a 7 year old can do. obviousely thats not truei got myself into college and worked hard and didnt even live in my parents house as a teen,i grew up too fast.
i do not have a mental illness or any symptoms, hes a liar..
i have a severe injury causing mobility trouble so i cannot walk well, thats why i dont have a job. i want to get disability money, but i see im not legally allowed to sign papers anymore? and if i get the money my father will steal it since he legally can.

i do not qualify for adult guardianship,i have no mental deficit or mental illness i just cannot walk well therefore i am defenseless against this abusive man
he takes advantage because of this, he took my money and im scared of him, hes controlling and has tried to put me in danger in the past.
i want to apply for disability money and go to a womens shelter but i cant and he says if i leave he will call the cops and try to have me commited to a mental hospital
he lies alot so he will get away with it
he has court papers against me but he wont even let me see the court papers

i think he also might know the judge personally, i do not know.. but his emplyment is connected to the local courts, hes still emplyed

what can i do,i have trouble getting around so i cant walk well,i have no money for a lawyer, my father wont give me my id to sign up for disability money, he will take it. if i call the cops my father will have me commited…locked up for a long time..even if they find nothing wrong with me they wont release me unless he tells them to,he can tell them to keep me in a mental hospital for waiting purposes to just have a place to be watched and wait for a long term institution to open up. they do that even if a persons not mentally ill they keep people for waiting for group homes or institutions. at family request
he has done this before he called cops on me when i tried to tell the cops i was abused they didnt listen, he lied to the psych er they kept me 2 weeks for evaluation. also a few extra days to run out my insurance money, they then decided my father was a liar and they saw no such behavior which he described and they said im not mentally ill and didnt belong there. hes been caught lying by certain people not related to courts
so this was before he had guardianship and they let me go…
but hes going to pull the same thing again.
he tried to push them to drug me even tho they found nothing wrong with me
hes going to do this again and ill spend a year being bumped around waiting for an institution instead of getting my mobility back and going to finish college and graduate school

i want to get far away from this man, him and i have no sort of relationship, i barely talk to him.
i am scared an
sasoryy for the typos, my keyboard has problem
i am jewish too

how do i find a lawyer who will help me for free. legal aid said they wont help.
i dont have any friends in law school. dont know what to do? frundraiser? isnt it like 10 or 20 thousand dollars for a lawyer

Please Help Me: I need some idea’s on how to organize in Power Point With some nice Piictures?

Long Term Travel Insurance | Posted by admin
Jun 25 2009

I need help on finding gooe pictures for each of my ideas posted here; perhaps i can help you with something? i am in South Korea; just ask.

I am doing a Power Point Presentation on Protect the Enviroment; and i have the following ideas; however i could use great help on pictures for each idea. Please help me?
To Stop Global Warming (Protect our Environment)

1. Replace a regular incandescent light bulb with a compact fluorescent light bulb (cfl)
CFLs use 60% less energy than a regular bulb. This simple switch will save about 300 pounds of carbon dioxide a year.
2. Install a programmable thermostat
Programmable thermostats will automatically lower the heat or air conditioning at night and raise them again in the morning. They can save you 0 a year on your energy bill.
3. Move your thermostat down 2° in winter and up 2° in summer
Almost half of the energy we use in our homes goes to heating and cooling. You could save about 2,000 pounds of carbon dioxide a year with this simple adjustment. The American Council for an Energy Efficient Economy has more tips for saving energy on heating and cooling.
4. Clean or replace filters on your furnace and air conditioner
Cleaning a dirty air filter can save 350 pounds of carbon dioxide a year.
5. Choose energy efficient appliances when making new purchases
Look for the Energy Star label on new appliances to choose the most efficient models available.
6. Do not leave appliances on standby
Use the "on/off" function on the machine itself. A TV set that's switched on for 3 hours a day (the average time Europeans spend watching TV) and in standby mode during the remaining 21 hours uses about 40% of its energy in standby mode.
7. Wrap your water heater in an insulation blanket
You'll save 1,000 pounds of carbon dioxide a year with this simple action. You can save another 550 pounds per year by setting the thermostat no higher than 50°C.
8. Move your fridge and freezer
Placing them next to the cooker or boiler consumes much more energy than if they were standing on their own. For example, if you put them in a hot cellar room where the room temperature is 30-35ºC, energy use is almost double and causes an extra 160kg of CO2 emissions for fridges per year and 320kg for freezers.
9. Defrost old fridges and freezers regularly
Even better is to replace them with newer models, which all have automatic defrost cycles and are generally up to two times more energy-efficient than their predecessors.
10. Don't let heat escape from your house over a long period
When airing your house, open the windows for only a few minutes. If you leave a small opening all day long, the energy needed to keep it warm inside during six cold months (10ºC or less outside temperature) would result in almost 1 ton of CO2 emissions.
11. Replace your old single-glazed windows with double-glazing
This requires a bit of upfront investment, but will halve the energy lost through windows and pay off in the long term. If you go for the best the market has to offer (wooden-framed double-glazed units with low-emission glass and filled with argon gas), you can even save more than 70% of the energy lost.
12. Get a home energy audit
Many utilities offer free home energy audits to find where your home is poorly insulated or energy inefficient. You can save up to 30% off your energy bill and 1,000 pounds of carbon dioxide a year. Energy Star can help you find an energy specialist.
13. Cover your pots while cooking
Doing so can save a lot of the energy needed for preparing the dish. Even better are pressure cookers and steamers: they can save around 70%!
14. Use the washing machine or dishwasher only when they are full
If you need to use it when it is half full, then use the half-load or economy setting. There is also no need to set the temperatures high. Nowadays detergents are so efficient that they get your clothes and dishes clean at low temperatures.
15. Take a shower instead of a bath
A shower takes up to four times less energy than a bath. To maximise the energy saving, avoid power showers and use low-flow showerheads, which are cheap and provide the same comfort.
16. Use less hot water
It takes a lot of energy to heat water. You can use less hot water by installing a low flow showerhead (350 pounds of carbon dioxide saved per year) and washing your clothes in cold or warm water (500 pounds saved per year) instead of hot.
17. Use a clothesline instead of a dryer whenever possible
You can save 700 pounds of carbon dioxide when you air dry your clothes for 6 months out of the year.
18. Insulate and weatherize your home
Properly insulating your walls and ceilings can save 25% of your home heating bill and 2,000 pounds of carbon dioxide a year. Caulking and weather-stripping can save another 1,700 pounds per year. Energy Efficient has more information on how to better insulate your home.
19. Be sure you're recycling at home
You can save 2,400 pounds of carbon dioxide a year by recycling half of the waste your household generates. Earth 911 can help you find recycling resources in your area.
20. Recycle your organic waste
Around 3% of the greenhouse gas emissions through the methane is released by decomposing bio-degradable waste. By recycling organic waste or composting it if you have a garden, you can help eliminate this problem! Just make sure that you compost it properly, so it decomposes with sufficient oxygen, otherwise your compost will cause methane emissions and smell foul.
21. Buy intelligently
One bottle of 1.5l requires less energy and produces less waste than three bottles of 0.5l. As well, buy recycled paper products: it takes less 70 to 90% less energy to make recycled paper and it prevents the loss of forests worldwide.
22. Choose products that come with little packaging and buy refills when you can
You will also cut down on waste production and energy use!
23. Reuse your shopping bag
When shopping, it saves energy and waste to use a reusable bag instead of accepting a disposable one in each shop. Waste not only discharges CO2 and methane into the atmosphere, it can also pollute the air, groundwater and soil.
24. Reduce waste
Most products we buy cause greenhouse gas emissions in one or another way, e.g. during production and distribution. By taking your lunch in a reusable lunch box instead of a disposable one, you save the energy needed to produce new lunch boxes.
25. Plant a tree
A single tree will absorb one ton of carbon dioxide over its lifetime. Shade provided by trees can also reduce your air conditioning bill by 10 to 15%. The Arbor Day Foundation has information on planting and provides trees you can plant with membership.
26. Switch to green power
In many areas, you can switch to energy generated by clean, renewable sources such as wind and solar. The Green Power Network is a good place to start to figure out what's available in your area.
27. Buy locally grown and produced foods
The average meal in the United States travels 1,200 miles from the farm to your plate. Buying locally will save fuel and keep money in your community.
28. Buy fresh foods instead of frozen
Frozen food uses 10 times more energy to produce.
29. Seek out and support local farmers markets
They reduce the amount of energy required to grow and transport the food to you by one fifth. You can find a farmer's market in your area at the USDA website.
30. Buy organic foods as much as possible
Organic soils capture and store carbon dioxide at much higher levels than soils from conventional farms. If we grew all of our corn and soybeans organically, we'd remove 580 billion pounds of carbon dioxide from the atmosphere!
31. Eat less meat
Methane is the second most significant greenhouse gas and cows are one of the greatest methane emitters. Their grassy diet and multiple stomachs cause them to produce methane, which they exhale with every breath.
32. Reduce the number of miles you drive by walking, biking, carpooling or taking mass transit wherever possible
Avoiding just 10 miles of driving every week would eliminate about 500 pounds of carbon dioxide emissions a year! Look for transit options in your area.
33. Start a carpool with your coworkers or classmates
Sharing a ride with someone just 2 days a week will reduce your carbon dioxide emissions by 1,590 pounds a year. eRideShare.com runs a free national service connecting commuters and travelers.
34. Don't leave an empty roof rack on your car
This can increase fuel consumption and CO2 emissions by up to 10% due to wind resistance and the extra weight – removing it is a better idea.
35. Keep your car tuned up
Regular maintenance helps improve fuel efficiency and reduces emissions. When just 1% of car owners properly maintain their cars, nearly a billion pounds of carbon dioxide are kept out of the atmosphere.
36. Drive carefully and do not waste fuel
You can reduce CO2 emissions by readjusting your driving style. Choose proper gears, do not abuse the gas pedal, use the engine brake instead of the pedal brake when possible and turn off your engine when your vehicle is motionless for more than one minute. By readjusting your driving style you can save money on both fuel and car mantainance.
37. Check your tires weekly to make sure they're properly inflated
Proper inflation can improve gas mileage by more than 3%. Since every gallon of gasoline saved keeps 20 pounds of carbon dioxide out of the atmosphere, every increase in fuel efficiency makes a difference!
38. When it is time for a new car, choose a more fuel efficient vehicle
You can save 3,000 pounds of carbon dioxide every year if your new car gets only 3 miles per gallon more than your current one. You can get up to 60 miles per gallon with a hybrid! You can find information on fuel efficiency on FuelEconomy and on GreenCars websites.
39. Try car sharing
Need a car but don't want to buy one? Community car sharing organizations provide access to a car and your membership fee covers gas, maintenance and insurance. Many companies – such as Flexcar – offer low emission or hybrid cars too! Also, see ZipCar.
40. Try telecommuting from home
Telecommuting can help you drastically reduce the number of miles you drive every week. For more information, check out the Telework Coalition.
41. Fly less
Air travel produces large amounts of emissions so reducing how much you fly by even one or two trips a year can reduce your emissions significantly. You can also offset your air travel by investing in renewable energy projects.
42. Encourage your school or business to reduce emissions
You can extend your positive influence on global warming well beyond your home by actively encouraging other to take action.
43. Join the virtual march
The Stop Global Warming Virtual March is a non-political effort to bring people concerned about global warming together in one place. Add your voice to the hundreds of thousands of other people urging action on this issue.
44. Encourage the switch to renewable energy
Successfully combating global warming requires a national transition to renewable energy sources such as solar, wind and biomass. These technologies are ready to be deployed more widely but there are regulatory barriers impeding them. Take action to break down those barriers with Vote Solar.
45. Protect and conserve forest worldwide
Forests play a critial role in global warming: they store carbon. When forests are burned or cut down, their stored carbon is release into the atmosphere – deforestation now accounts for about 20% of carbon dioxide emissions each year. Conservation International has more information on forests and global warming.
46. Consider the impact of your investments

Please Help Me: I need some idea’s on how to organize in Power Point With some nice Pictures?

Long Term Travel Insurance | Posted by admin
Jun 21 2009

If you invest your money, you should consider the impact that your investments and savings will have on global warming. Check out SocialInvest and Ceres to can learn more about how to ensure your money is being invested in companies, products and projects that address issues related to climate change.

When to buy more life insurance?

Long Term Travel Insurance | Posted by admin
May 20 2009

I remarried a couple years ago, and have a baby now. I need to get some more term life insurance. I'm 42, probably 10-15 pounds overweight, don't smoke/drink. The catch is… my birthday is coming up in a few weeks, and right after that, I'm travelling outside the country. I thought I read somewhere that getting new/more life insurance just before travelling jacks-up the price, and I know the older you get, the more it costs. My question is: should I get it now (and pay extra coz I'm travelling, but pay less coz it's before my birthday), or get it when I return (and pay less coz the travel is done, but pay more coz I'm 1 year older)?? Maybe another choice is to wait even longer til I get rid of the extra wait (to put me in a lower risk category?). Hope there's some agent/broker out there who can answer or set the facts straight that I've got wrong. Thanks for your time and assistance…

Mother (87) receives offer of AAA travel insurance. Has medicare and secondary. How necessary is AAA travel?

Long Term Travel Insurance | Posted by admin
May 15 2009

AAA supposedly offers direct payment for covered incidents. Small
print takes away long-term hospital payments and there are other
limitations.
