How would I go about asking my dad if i can pay less on rent?

Student Travel Insurance | Posted by admin
Mar 08 2010

So, I’m kind of in a huge mess, financially. I am buried in bills and I get collection agencies calling me daily. Let me just start off by saying I’m 20 and I’m a full-time student. My parents recently got divorced and I decided to move out with my dad, with whom I said I would pay 0 rent if I were to move out with him. I have a part-time job that pays 0 every 2 weeks.(Here’s my living situation: I live in a 1 bedroom apartment with my dad. I get no privacy, and I sleep in the living room) So yeah, I pay the 0 each month, but it’s beginning to hold me back from paying my bills that include car insurance, phone bill, and other debts (medical, school, credit card etc.) I need to get free of debt!! I want to live my life! I want to travel! i feel if I pay 0 in rent I could get these debts payed. and I’ve mentioned this before to my dad, but he’s very clear that he needs this 0 because his job doesn’t cover paying for the apartment. So basically he needs me. But I don’t think it’s fair because If I weren’t here, he’d have to pay the entire rent. I just need advice. How should I go about asking to pay less without him freaking out on me?

Female H.S. student considering the military…..advice?

Student Travel Insurance | Posted by admin
Mar 05 2010

I still have another year of high school, but I’ve been looking at my options for the future. My parents said they will support any decision I make whether it’s community college, university or the military. Lately I’ve been considering joining the Army. I’ve done a lot of research recently and really like what I’m seeing so far. Since my parents are unable to pay for my college education, the fact that I can earn money toward college is a huge plus. I’ve always wanted to travel and explore different cultures and get the heck out of this small town I’ve lived in my entire life. I’ve discovered that the Army offers training in the field that I’ve always wanted to pursue. (Vet Tech/Animal Care Specialist) and that I will be paid to learn this job rather than join a college and pay pay pay out money and be in debt thousands and thousands of dollars after graduation. The benefits I will receive in the future for myself and my future family is something I’m thinking about as well…good health insurance, life insurance and education benefits for my children some day.

I’m open to hearing any advice any of you might have. I’m meeting with a recruiter in 2 weeks and I’ll learn more, but if any of you have experience with this, I’m all ears.

Do I need a Study Visa for Ireland if I already get one for France?

Student Travel Insurance | Posted by admin
Mar 03 2010

I am studying abroad next semester and a non-US citizen.
I am going to go to Rome, Paris and Dublin. I already have a student visa for Italy for the my first month of study.

So, if I get a student visa for Paris for the next two months of stay (which includes Ireland’s as well) and have my university type a letter attesting to the dates and accommodation/health insurance etc. without the mention of Ireland, can I get away without getting visa for Ireland? Because once I have a Schengen visa, can’t I travel anywhere in those 20 countries?
Hope I am clear and making sense.
Thanks for any help :)

Going back to school to get a Master's degree?

Student Travel Insurance | Posted by admin
Feb 28 2010

I am 35 years old and will be married on May 2nd. My fiancee is 37. Neither she nor I have children but plan to start a family as soon as possible after we are married. I have toyed around with the idea of getting licensed as a Christian counselor for a few years. I live in Georgia and to be licensed by the state you have to have a Master’s degree. A friend of mine suggested getting student loans to cover living expenses, going to school during the day and then waiting tables 2 or 3 times a week for extra money. My fiancee works part time as a travel agent at her paying job and then part time at her family’s ministry.
Counseling and teaching is what God has gifted me in and what I truly am passionate about. I have no college education at all so I am starting from scratch. My fiancee’s concern is that if I were to quit my position at UPS we would lose insurance benefits. However, my friend has told me that health insurance is available through universities and colleges. I feel that I would seriously burn out attempting to work full time and attend classes full time for 8 years. Thoughts and advice are welcome…

Is 82K a year good for 26 year old in Oklahoma?

Student Travel Insurance | Posted by admin
Feb 27 2010

I have:
1) two older cars (2000, 2002) both paid for
2) 0 a month in student loans
3) 0 mortgage/utilities after roommate’s portion
4) {content} credit card debt
5) monthly car insurance
6) Free health insurance through employer
7) monthly gym membership

Is 82K good money for my age and location? It is relatively fun job and I travel throughout the U.S. a lot. But I don’t really feel like I am able to save very much.

I just don’t feel like I have very much money to spend after taxes and 401k.

How do I get a car title switched to my name?

Student Travel Insurance | Posted by admin
Feb 26 2010

My father financed my car in his name because I was a college student and my credit sucked. I made all the car payments and the car is physically with me and always has been. I maintained the car insurance (which had to be in his name as well) and paid off the car more than a year ago. I really want to put the title in my name and switch insurance companies. But here in Texas, you can’t get insurance if the car isn’t registered in your name, you also (as of I don’t know when) can’t get a registration sticker at the courthouse if the car isn’t registered in your name even if you have all the car’s info. Long story short, my dad lives in California and I live in Texas, is there a way for him to sign the title over to me without him having to travel all the way here?

Why there isn't a list of services and prices when you walk into a hospital?

Student Travel Insurance | Posted by admin
Feb 24 2010

I am Helen,from Europe.
I was a participant of Work and Travel program and worked in the USA,MA state, during summer 2009.
In the middle of July I got injured at job.Firstly,my left ankle started to swell, and getting blue,I could hardly make a step.My manager adviced me to go to the Emergency.I had X-ray there and some consultation with the physician.Everything was fine with the bones, nothing was broken. After all the doctor could’n help me get better, cause she didn’t know exactly why I had such complication. So I just went home.
Unfortunately,In a couple of weeks my right ankle started to swell the same way,and it was very painful to walk.My manager had brought me to the Emergency room.I had to wait 2 hours till the physician visited me.He told me I had a kind of allergy, but I had never had any allergy,it’s impossible. He prescribed me some drugs, but it didn’t help me at all.I had to take a couple of days off and started to get better. At the financial department the lady told me that I would have to pay the deductible of 250$ per visit, after processing the claims.
So,I went back home in Europe in the beginning of September and recieved the bills from the Emergency. The amount is very big for me.I have to pay – 00 .
I’ve completed the claim forms and mailed them to the Insurance company. But the point is that I’ve got the Past Due Notice from the Hospital, where it’s written :"your account is pending for credit review".I’ve contacted the Insurance company and they told me the claims were being processed, and I would be recieving the explanation of benefits showing if they had paid or not my bills.
I am really confused now,I am just a student, have no any income. My manager would never pay this money for me,though the injury happened at work.
What if the insurance company refuses to pay my bills.
What should I do?What did the Hospital mean saying that my account was pending for credit review? If I don’t pay now, what can they do to me?
I think the ER cost was exaggerated. Can anyone tell me what are the real prices for Emergency room service,I mean just to stay 1 hour in the room waiting for the physycian,a consultation and X-rays?

How Do I Know If I need To Pay Tax If My Income Varies?

Student Travel Insurance | Posted by admin
Feb 23 2010

Hey there, I turned 18 in July and left college in June. I’ve been sort of self employed (Although not registered) since I was 14. I own websites and do the odd freelance journalism work online. Now that I’ve left college I’ve turned it in to my full time job and I’m starting to make a fair income, it will only go up from here.

I plan on registering as self employed now that I’m not a student, and therefore I’m going to have to pay tax, national insurance etc. My problem is how do I know if I’m eligible. I keep records (it’s all from paypal, which is confusing in itself) and I transfer it in to a spreadsheet, but I’ve only been doing this for the last three months and my income varies that much (since I’m Freelance and my website traffic is not consistent) I cannot really work out if I’m even going to make the boundary where I’d have to pay Tax. Or is it case that you pay it and if you miss the boundary they pay you back.

Also what is the whole tax back thing? I have to buy computer equipment every few years, my electricity bill, I do journalism and have to travel, buy tickets for sporting events – all sorts of things.

It’s kind of worrying me, everyone else my age is now either at Uni or they have an employer that sorts this out. There seems to be a real gray area where the internet is concerned.

I turn 18 tomorrow…what's it gonna be like to live on my own?

Student Travel Insurance | Posted by admin
Feb 22 2010

well, not my own my own…..

my dad owns rentals and he just got his license as an insurance claims adjuster….which requires him to travel alot. so he came to me and my brother (i turn 18 tomorrow, my brother is 20) and said that if we managed the apartments, we could share a 2 bedroom rent free. we would still have to pay for utilities and stuff, but no rent. we both said heck yeah, my dad said you move in end of the month.

i am in shock to say the least….by the time we move in i’ll be a full time student, and i am in the process of getting a job (until then i have enough odd-job/summer jobs to last me for money)

but is it gonna be hard? whats it actually gonna be like?
i’m used to my mom being who what when where and why all the time
i’m not even allowed to listen to certain music…they search my computer and text messages and all that.

i already pay for my own gas, cell phone, internet, car, and insurance.
i get along with my bro pretty well, we aren’t buddy buddy, we just stay out of each others way and we’re good.

but idk…what should i expect?

Best website/company for traveling by train across Europe?

Student Travel Insurance | Posted by admin
Feb 21 2010

I’m from England and want to travel Europe for about 2 months (maybe more) end of June onwards.
I was originally planning on going on a road trip in my car but after a lot of thought and considering the cost of insurance, breakdown cover, petrol and the possibility of my car breaking on the trip or being stolen has made me more open to the idea of trains.
I think i will be traveling with an 19 year old and a 26 year old, and i myself am 18.
What is the best travel pass to get? It sucks that my friend is 26 because he’s more expensive as he’s no longer classed as a student.
Unfortunately some of the websites don’t include Poland in their passes, which we wanted to go to Krakow, so it’s not too far into Poland, perhaps we’ll have to just buy extra tickets to get there.

The main countries i’d like to go to are: Norway, Sweden, Denmark, Germany, Netherlands, Belgium, Poland, Austria, Czech,Italy, Switz, France. And perhaps Slovakia, Hungary, Croatia, Slovenia and other countries towards that way – although i’m not so sure as i’ve heard stories about them being dangerous?

Please can you help me out with what countries to go to and the best way to do it – all i know if that i want to spend a few months seeing as much of Europe as i can, and really enjoy it.. for as cheap as i can (Although i don’t think i’d like to go on coach because it would make the trip much less enjoyable than train).

Thank you so much for any help/advice you can give. I’d really appreciate any answers – even if i’ve not directly asked about the advice you’d like to give :)

Travelling! OMG. Advice please? (to VENICE!)?

Student Travel Insurance | Posted by admin
Feb 20 2010

I am a university student in the UK. This year, the Uni said people could sign up for various trips. They turned out to be poorly planned, overpriced and nowhere interesting. So obviously I thought I’d take matters into my own hands and organise my own trip to Venice with 10-20 other students.

Questions -
-Insurance. Do I need it? Why? How do I go about any other legal stuff that might be onvolved?
-Hostels. Any recomendations? remember I need to be able to accomadate up to 20, so should I go for several hostels that are close together?
-Places that are a MUST SEE. Fire away. I’m planning for a week there.

Wish me luck!

Live in position for light house cleaning and care-giving?

Student Travel Insurance | Posted by admin
Feb 19 2010

I am considering to take a live in position to do some care-giving of an elderly woman and light house cleaning and cooking. The person I will work for really needs help. She is a sociology professor, has cancer and lives with her mom, whom needs help as well. I have agreed to help her out in exchange for room and board. However, I am not sure what would be a fair for me to ask in terms of monetary compensation. I am a college student, and making a bit of extra money would help to pay for my gas and travel expenses, car insurance payments (every 3 months), and just little things needed. If you were in my situation, what do you think is a fair amount to ask for? I would appreciate your feedback or suggestions, please no rude comments. I am doing this with the best intention of helping her out and taking care of my basic needs. Thanks

Root canal to Oral surgery needed?

Student Travel Insurance | Posted by admin
Feb 17 2010

School was just about to start for me before I had seen a dentist. The dentist then referred me to an Endodonist, I went to see him. Then the Endodontist referred me to an Oral Surgeon saying it could be a possible syst/cyst after seeing my x-ray and passing an Electric pulp test. . . he wasn’t clear at all of what it meant.

I wasn’t able to see a surgeon at all, school had started the next week after, and school is outside my insured area, the city of El Paso, tx. . . I’m 600 miles away in the city of Austin, I haven’t been able to travel at home for anything. It’s been 2 months since then.

Financially, I’m strained. . . my dad wasn’t able to cover my bills and have my student loans helping me avoid bad credit. And after calculation, I only had 500 spending money for the semester. Wasn’t able to secure a job, my School schdeule conflicted. And Right now I’m scared as crap. . . .as too what is going to happen to my tooth, I wake up in the morning feeling my tooth throb but no Major pain.

Questions: Any one have any idea of what I should do? Or what I should expect out of holding it off till December when I do go back. Or is there insurance for students that I could get through my university, Since my current insurance is gay and city bounded? Or even what I should expect as a Cost if I didn’t wait. . . I have so many questions and Little idea of what it is within my gums that I need a surgeon for. Can Some one help, Thanks in advance.

Is it worth going to China for more than $2000 for the Olympics? Student.?

Feb 16 2010

It is for 10 days, they will take us to Beijing and Shanghai, they will feed us 3 meals per day, I will be going with my classmates, I will live in a 3 or 4 star hotel, professional tour escort, they will take us to see a couple of shows. Should I get the 9 insurance?

Is it cheaper if I go with a friend some other time. I am female so traveling alone will be expensive.

I don’t know what to do? Should I go to China during the Olympics? Is it worth the money?

What is The Overall PROCESS and Experience of Invisalign? Financially as well?

Student Travel Insurance | Posted by admin
Feb 15 2010

I am an 18 year old college student on a tight budget yet have been wanting to close my minor gaps for many years. I went to a dentist who offered to do OrthoClear for 00 but OrthroClear was recently bought out during a lawsuit with invisalign, no longer and option.

I travelled to many other dentists and the lowest offer I got was 00 for invisalign; too high for my small budget.

Luckly i contacted the dentist that offered my 00 for the orthoclear and can perform invisalign for my minor corrections for ,500. I will still call other offices to see if they can beat that price though this dentist is a good one so i’ll most likely stick with him.

Can someone fill me in on the overall process I will have to undergo from the moment I step into the dentists office? Payment plans? (I dont have dental insurance) and such? Will it truly be 00 or much more if there needs to be other exams and charges? I just dont wanna end up paying more. Thanks! Also the invisalign treatment.

Hi,

Pulpal Debrid, Pri/Perm (#30) 275.00

Thank you very much!

Car accident. No insurance. My Fault.?

Student Travel Insurance | Posted by admin
Feb 13 2010

I was in a car accident recently, just coming out of a parking lot, some guy jumps out infront of the car ahead of me – the car stops instantly causing me to bump him from behind.

There was no damage on my car, with his however, he claims that his car has been crumpled internaly and that the boot seized to open properly.

We were travelling around 5ks /hr. nothing much, just coming out of a parking lot, it was basically a tap.. he got a quote to fix it for around acouple of thousand! (4+)
I know the guys acting shifty. Hes car is worth nomore than 5(max)

Btw, It wasnt MY car at the time, but i was on as thirdparty. called the insurance company today, and they said that it has been lapsed due to some payment issues. *??* hence inactive at the time.

The guy that I hit is insured 3rd party.
I can only afford around 1000, nothing more. (uni student)
Would he be able to file a police report? What would i be able to do in this matter?

I live in victoria btw.
Thanks.
Hmm.. i guess im worried about if he can sue me. Would he be able to press charges or something?

Is there an agency that deals with these kinds of issues? I just dont want to wake up one morning with a 00 bill under my door. Although a month sounds good =)

do I need insurance to start up an indoor soccer program for kids in my town?

Student Travel Insurance | Posted by admin
Feb 12 2010

I am looking into starting an indoor soccer program for the kids in my community and I was wondering how I would go about it. Because there is no indoor soccer field, we would have to use the gymnasiums at the two elementary schools and the highschool we have. We would not travel and it would remain pretty casual…would waviers etc work instead? where could I find more information about this?

optional reading:

i would like it to run as follows:

kids that register would be split into teams of about 7-8 and each team in each age group would be assigned a different team color. We would order T-shirts to use as jerseys and adults and highschool aged students would volunteer to coach a team, coming whenever their team comes. I would hold a practice a week per age group or more depending on how man kids we have as well as try to get one game a week organized per team against other teams in their age group. I would most likely not separate the kids into genders because of lack of numbers at this point. I am just wondering if I will need insurance for this in any way. also, would not having insurance, bgut rather having waviers and forms for the parents to sign work? If I need insurance…what kind? how do I find about about it? thank:)

thank you greatly:)

How to improve bad credit score?

Student Travel Insurance | Posted by admin
Feb 10 2010

My credit score is currently at (570), and has been for about 3 years now. Most of my debt is from Hospital stays and the doctors who saw me during my stay. I had no health insurance at the time because I barely made enough money to survive. I have also had a friend whom I shared an apartment with steal my identity and sign up for credit cards and use them as her own while she went traveling across the country. Up until about a year ago when I went to apply for a loan so I could get a new car I didn’t even know these credit cards existed. Apparently I am in about ,000 worth of debt. My boyfriend and I are moving to TAMPA FL next year and I will need to get my credit score up a little higher if I want to be able to rent an apartment. I make about 00 a month, 0 of it goes to other bills and I’d say about 0 goes to other living expenses. About 0 a month right now is going towards saving for a car that I need desperately in order to get back and forth to work. I basically have 0 a month to spare as of right now. My dilemma is that I am willing to work with the collection agencies that keep bugging me on a daily basis but all of them seem to want my bills paid in full. Out of the 3 hospital bills 00, 000, and 00 I don’t know how I can possibly pay them all off at one time. My question is should I start paying off the 0-0 bills (My Ex-Friends) debt or should I worry about paying the big bills off first? I making my student loan payments on time which is helping out tremendously, but I am just so confused about how improve my credit score within the next year or so before I move. What is the credit score most landlords find acceptable now adays and what about car dealerships? If I can save 0 a month towards my debt for the time being will it be worth it eventually?

No insurance, spun out on highway during severe snow storm and was hit. Who is at fault?

Student Travel Insurance | Posted by admin
Feb 09 2010

The section of highway I was driving on was 2 lanes wide and straight for a mile. Traffic traveling the opposite direction was separated by about 100 feet of grass. The maximum speed limit is 65mph and the minimum is 45mph. I was traveling at an estimated 45mph in the slow lane. The tail end of my car began to slide out to the right and I was unable to correct this due to the terrible conditions of the road. I spun completely around and was facing directly into traffic in the fast lane. A car traveling in the fast lane (at a rate of speed unknown to me) hit me head on, totaling both cars. Its hard to be sure, but I am estimating that the time between initial loss of control and impact was around 10 – 15 seconds. There were no injuries. I did not have insurance on my car due to being a college student and not having help from my parents. It is not legally necessary to possess insurance. Two months later, a collection agency is looking for ,472 from me. Should I have to pay this?
