I want to be to rent a decent 2-3bed room apt. Have a car. Eat out at least twice a week. Have decent cloths(but not too expensive). Travel once a year for 10 days. Health insurance. And at the end of the year, still have money to save.

Women: If abortion were illegal, and you wanted one, what would you do?

Travel Health Insurance | Posted by admin
Apr 08 2010

Would you try to go to another country where you could get a legal abortion? Would you try to illegally obtain one in your own country if you couldn’t travel? Or would you resign yourself to going through with the pregnancy?

Bonus question: What if you also didn’t have health insurance? Would that effect your decision, the prospect of having to go through a pregnancy with limited access to proper medical care?

NOTE: Those that have moral objections to abortion, or who simply wouldn’t want to have an abortion themselves can skip this question as it is not pertinent to you.

Why do liberals keep referring to the new health insurance system as "affordable?"?

Travel Health Insurance | Posted by admin
Apr 03 2010

I work on film crews. It an be a long time between movie projects, so I deliver pizzas between crews instead of going on unemployment like many of my film crew buddies. I also own some crappy land, which I inherited, that won’t sell. It’s just sitting there on the market, screwing me out of qualifying for anything and everything my tax dollars are used for in the way of entitlement funding.

I live in a travel trailer. As soon as I have to start paying an upwards of 0 a month for health insurance that is only going to go up, up and up now that pre-existing conditions must be covered, I’m going to have to move into a tent.

What part of this is "affordable?"

Is Ticket Protector Plus by Access America a legitimate type of travel insurance? Should I buy it for $20.43?

Travel Health Insurance | Posted by admin
Mar 31 2010

I am buying plane tickets to costa rica and nicaragua through cheaptickets.com. When entering my information, I am given the option to add Ticket Protector Plus through Access America for an additional .43. It looks like some sort of insurance program. Does anyone know anything about this service?

I can’t tell if this is an alternative to other travel health insurance that would normally cost 0 to 0.

Here is a link to the terms and conditions:

Seeking to travel/live/work abroad with a daily medical need. How is it possible?

Travel Health Insurance | Posted by admin
Mar 28 2010

I am currently 26 years old living in Fl. I have an overwhelming urge to travel…and travel more than a week. I prefer and seek to travel with a backpack and my trade skills to support me for as long as I can till I must return. My dilemma is I am a Type I Diabetic and rely solely on insulin shots daily for meals. I can buy my scripts in 3 months packs, provided I have health insurance, which I do by my employer. If I quit to travel abroad for X amount of weeks, months, maybe years, how does one even make this happen? How is health care abroad and can I seek medication to survive on a daily basis with my condition? Can I set up scripts overseas? How if any way possible , can I make my dream come true but in the safest and healthiest way possible. I would basically need access to reasonably priced medications wherever I end up ( UK, Italy, Spain etc. )

Will someone explain this public insurance health care bill to me?

Travel Health Insurance | Posted by admin
Mar 25 2010

Ok, so this Health Insurance option thing…i’ve read articles about it, and I just don’t understand it. I’ve been working a lot lately, so would someone please explain to me exactly what it is?

One thing I’ve come across that concerns me is that we would be fined 5000 a year to NOT have insurance. Does this apply to everyone in the country without some form of insurance or medicare already?

What about the homeless? Will they be fined? What about independent contractors? The Gypsies? College Students? I’ve spent years as a college student, with little to no work, traveling on my breaks from city to city, camping, selling jewelry for gas money. Thousands live this lifestyle all the time and never get an actual job. Will these people be fined 5000 dollars a year? Will the bum on the corner begging for change be expected to pay for health insurance that could cost thousands of dollars or a hefty fine when he’s struggling just to keep warm?

When I heard the idea that people with preexisting health conditions could get insurance, I thought it sounded like a great idea. But I didn’t think about the problem…someone never pays for the insurance, gets in a car accident and calls up saying "oh yeah i want insurance now", Insurance, the very word, means to be insured that if you pay a company to remain a business, they will always be there when you do fall ill. What is stopping people from getting insurance for 2 days, get insurance rates, and then cancel the next week? This means those who actually abide by the policies will inadvertently pay for the people who will screw the system over. Pre-existing conditions….it does really suck to be born with a terrible illness like epilepsy for instance…but to allow just anyone with preexisting conditions?

I have been against the "Free Health Care" idea for a while. Though it sounds nice, it’s just one of those ideas that won’t work, will put us in debt , won’t be fair to anyone, ruin the health care system in general, and the government will likely destroy everything about it. However, as irresponsible as it is, I would rather pay extra taxes and have the public option. I’d rather pay extra for others to be covered, rather than getting fined 5000 dollars because I refused to live the way the government expects me to. I’d rather pay more taxes than see the government pass an unconstitutional bill and MONOPOLIZE millions of business.(and this is coming from a Tea Party Patriot…)

So could someone explain this to me?
Homeless people go to free clinics or have medicaid? Not all of them, but even if that was the case, they’d still be forced to pay?
Yes you get fined if you don’t have an address! Not to mention, if you don’t pay this fine you could go to jail.

This one DOES answer my first and initial question, but what in the hell is the POINT of making the rich pay for insurance, when the POOR are the ones that really need it? So I can’t be sure if this is actually accurate. I simply don’t have time to read the 1000 page billl.

http://www.rushlimbaugh.com/home/daily/site_030810/content/01125111.guest.html

What they are doing is making insurance NOT insurance, forcing people who are more likely to pay for healthcare in the first place to get insurance, even if they don’t like it, and leaving the poor out anyway. Some bleeding hearts. Sounds like a load of crap to me
Wait, did you seriously just ask me why would anyone buy health insurance and cancel it? LOL

Tell me your joking.

Well let’s see. I get sick, but never bought insurance. I want to go to the doctor, but SHIT, I don’t have insurance? I make a phone call, have them deduct so much out of my bank account to go to the doctor, pay the deductible, save hundreds, maybe thousands of dollars. I go home cancel my plan, and don’t get billed every month for the rest of the year. I just got a discount because the government forced the insurance companies to let me get away with it! What a bunch of morons! Now, all those poor suckers who decided they needed health insurance all the time, pay larger amounts to cover what they might need for health care in the future, and took care of mine!
Requiem, I had already acknowledged that since it was in "Add Details" long after I posted the question. Now my questions are HOW does this help poor people? How does this entire situation NOT increase insurance premiums? How can you call it insurance at all anymore?

What good is free healthcare if I can't get to the doctor?

Travel Health Insurance | Posted by admin
Mar 22 2010

Statistics show that over 77 million Americans struggle through life without a car. I propose that we all get free transportation, maybe an Escalade or a Hummer for all Americans. It is every Americans right to be able to travel around without being oppressed by the rising costs of transportation. The other day a capitalist pig mechanic said I couldn’t get my car back unless I paid him for the work that he did. Another case of "The Man" sticking it to us common folk, at least if I don’t have health insurance the hospital still has to treat me for free. Who agrees that this country needs leadership who will give us free stuff?

Do we have 401K plan in Thailand?

Travel Health Insurance | Posted by admin
Mar 04 2010

My organization paid good salary with health insurance, travel allowance, education allowance, Severance pay (Thai laws). But they don’t have 401K or retirement plan. Therefore, if I do not save money I will not have any saving.

Currently, I open to Thai bank account–Standard Charter Thai and Siam Commercial Bank. I used them on my daily activities–paying bills etc.

Can you please suggest financial plan? What kind of program I can enroll to save about 10-20% of income each month without me using them to buy "nice-to-have" staff lol?

Who wastes time like this?

Travel Health Insurance | Posted by admin
Mar 01 2010

I came home form work the last Thursday and Friday to a full answering machine with messages for a person named Julian Sweet (I don’t know who that is and his name is nowhere near my name). "Julian" apparently was online early Thursday and made MANY online requests for various services – home based businesses, auto/home/health insurance, travel packages, etc. and left my phone number in the request. We’re talking hundreds of requests. In the last three days I have had over 90 phone calls from different businesses seeking "Julian." Today I started receiving mail for "Julian". One of the items was for a new home owner’s insurance policy quote – and based upon the details in the proposal, this person knew my address, the year the home was built, a correct value, when the wiring was last checked… the whole nine yards.

Aside from being irritating and annoying, should I be worried about this? A friend of mine said that there are people who can with "one click" enter my information online and it is sent to hundreds of companies and it will look like I want their services. Is this true? And does anyone know how to make this stop, aside from changing my phone number and moving?

Thanks for your help…
I have lived at this address and had this phone number for ten years. I tried to think if there was anyone I had angered recently but I am drawing a blank. I don’t really have "enemies"… it’s crazy.

Public health care in the USA?

Travel Health Insurance | Posted by admin
Feb 26 2010

I don’t understand why people say public health care couldn’t work in the USA. They work in almost every other developed country and some are even considered superior.

I’m British who’s fiancée is an American currently working as a nurse in the USA. I am neither Republican nor Democrat and it really won’t affect me whether America has a public system or not I’ll still need travel insurance.

It really seems bizarre to me that a country that can put a man on the moon can’t or won’t take care of its citizens. What is stopping it happening? Is it purely the public objection, too powerful insurance companies or simply impossible to complete?
Jimmy J – As I noted in the question I have no intrest in whether USA has a Public system or not as it won’t effect me. My fiancee works as a nurse in the USA so I do have an Interest.
Ruiner – most of the leading and largest pharmaceutical and research companies are based in countries with public health care systems, ever heard of GlaxoSmithKline or AstraZeneca. Only 2 of the top 5 pharmaceutical companies are American and 3 of the top 8. I do like the fact that you choose Laser eye Surgery as an example since it was developed in Holland a country with a public health care system.
Sorry the idea of laser eye surgery was from Holland it was first performed in Germany and then Greece. Both of which have public health care systems

Travel insurance? US citizen, residing in Japan, traveling to US for holidays. What should I do?

Travel Health Insurance | Posted by admin
Feb 20 2010

I’m a US citizen, currently living in Japan on a religious activities visa. I’m going home to the US for Christmas for two weeks. In America I have no health insurance. Right now I’m covered under the national health insurance here in Japan, but that doesn’t cover me while I’m traveling abroad. What is the best thing to do about travel insurance?

All the travelers insurance sites I’ve visited ask for my country of residence, which is technically still the US. So, I can’t buy travelers insurance from the US to the US… can I? Or should I say that my country of residence is Japan?
Also, where is the best place to purchase travelers insurance from?

I do have some friends who probably know, and I’m going to ask them. But I thought I’d see what people have to say on here as well.
Thanks for your help!

I have a bf in NZ who wants me to move out there. And although he makes it most of the time sounds like living in NZ is too good to be true, I want to know the real facts like your public health system. I have a very good health insurance here, everything I want and need is easily accesible, prices of everyday basic needs are reasonably affordable. I’m pretty much stable here with a home and vehicles I’ve worked for. MY bf has been here but keeps going back because simply he is home sick. I need advice pretty much from someone who can tell me what NZ is really like.

What happens if I cannot pay hospital bill?

Travel Health Insurance | Posted by admin
Feb 09 2010

I am a citizen of Russia (lived here all my life). I was visiting my brother on vacation last year in USA and had a seizure and small stroke so I had to stay in the hospital for a few days. They did a MRI, Cat scan and other things to see what’s going on. I am 60 and have a history of strokes, high blood pressure, diabetes so before I went on vacation, I purchased in Rusia health travel insurance for K. My hospital bill in Houston was K so I thought there will be no problem.
Last week ago, I received in Russia the hospital bill for K because insurance didn’t want to pay because of "preexisting condition". My question is what can happen to me? I am very, very worried. My salary here in Rusia is about K a year so it’s normal that I can’t pay K hospital bill. My brother in USA says nothing can happen but I am really worried. I can’t believe anybody will just leave me alone for this much money. Can you please help in any way; what can they do to me? Thank you so much!

Will states that “Opt Out” of the Health Care public Option be targeted?

Travel Health Insurance | Posted by admin
Feb 09 2010

Big insurance companies and pharmaceutical companies spend billions of dollars buying the favors, actions and votes of congressmen and Senators to see they get what they want. The Health Care bill will dramatically reduce the influence from these companies. The "Public Option" will give U.S citizens a fair and affordable opportunity to get reasonable insurance and better health care. If the insurance companies and pharmaceutical companies have their ability to influence and bride our national government leaders will they not shift their efforts to states that Opt Out of the public option? Will opting out not set the states up for graft, corruption and bribes of state law makers? Won’t the citizens of those states opting out suffer or will they be able to travel to other states where they can take benefit of the new Health Care regulations? It appears to me that the only benefit of states opting out of the public option would be to allow the states to negotiate with the insurance and pharmaceutical companies!
