I still have another year of high school, but I’ve been looking at my options for the future. My parents said they will support any decision I make whether it’s community college, university or the military. Lately I’ve been considering joining the Army. I’ve done a lot of research recently and really like what I’m seeing so far. Since my parents are unable to pay for my college education, the fact that I can earn money toward college is a huge plus. I’ve always wanted to travel and explore different cultures and get the heck out of this small town I’ve lived in my entire life. I’ve discovered that the Army offers training in the field that I’ve always wanted to pursue. (Vet Tech/Animal Care Specialist) and that I will be paid to learn this job rather than join a college and pay pay pay out money and be in debt thousands and thousands of dollars after graduation. The benefits I will receive in the future for myself and my future family is something I’m thinking about as well…good health insurance, life insurance and education benefits for my children some day.
I’m open to hearing any advice any of you might have. I’m meeting with a recruiter in 2 weeks and I’ll learn more, but if any of you have experience with this, I’m all ears.
