I am traveling to Southeast Asia for 3.5 weeks and want to know where I can find cheap travel insurance. I currently do not have health care coverage and wanted to know if anyone knew of other alternatives or companies or ways to obtain cheap travel insurance for the duration of my trip. Thanks!

My friends and I are going on a road trip for 5 weeks from San Francisco to New York and are thinking of buying a car for the duration that we’re there. Obviously we’ll need car insurance, however how would we go about it when we aren’t American nationals and don’t have an address there?
I’m going to St.Thomas in the USVI’s August 24th. The forecast shows that the two potential tropical depressions moving off of Africa are going to impact this region THAT week…HOPEFULLY..the hurricanes will miss that part..but just in general..IF a hurricane were to hit..how long is one place affected? How long does it take for it to pass the island? I’m just wondering that if I go and one does it..how many days will we be experiencing the storm? I went to the Bahamas in 07 during Hurricane Dean and didnt even get a drop of rain..I guess it was too far away. I can’t really find the answer to how long a hurricane impacts ONE specific place..only how long the actual duration of the storm is (8-12 days etc.)..anyone know? I didnt get trip insurance because I booked the vacation about a week ago…and it wasn’t offered, so please don’t suggest trip insurance!
Im traveling abroad in a few weeks with my Canon 5D + lenses and would like to insure the camera for the duration of my trip. Ive seen a few companies online (such as photoguard) who seem pretty reputable, but id really like to know what experiences people have had, and who, if anyone, you would recommend.
I am situated in the UK btw. So might not be worth answering this question if you live elsewhere.

Basically, I’m trying to get travel insurance, but I’m having 3 issues which are confusing me!
Firstly- I’m 17 when we set off on our journey, and I can’t seem to find any where to get travel insurance for just one traveller if they’re under 18? Is the only answer to book it with a friend as well and make them (18) the lead passenger?
Secondly, although I’m 17 for the duration of the holiday- I turn 18 on the day we travel home! Does this complicate things at all? Because things seem to be cheaper for under 18′s- will I be uninsured for my journey home?
Thirdly- do you have to declare any medical conditions/ medications/ diagnosis’s? Because if you do- I need to check with my doctor what I even need to declare!
Can anyone please help, I’m so confused!

1. Do I apply for long-stay or short stay Visa (before Carte de Sejour)?
2. Do I need to cover my own medical insurance only during the duration of my initial Visa?
3. When would I receive French medical?
4. If my husband has a job, would the French Embassy count that as mine as well?
5. If not, roughly how much money does the French Embassy require me to have?
6.If my husband was born in Germany, does that mean he has a European residency permit (even though he now lives in the United States)?
