Wife stuck in England (Manchester) due to Iceland volcano eruption, HELP!?

Family Travel Insurance | Posted by admin
May 09 2010

Hi everybody, my wife is stuck in England due to the volcano’s eruption and she is panicking right now and she is almost out of money there and I’m here also in the United States. Does anybody knows or have heard a way she can come back easily to the United States? May be by ship? The problem is she did not buy a travel insurance catastrophe or something like that, so that way she will be reimburse by the airline (She was not expecting a catastrophe) Please help me and let me know if you have heard a way Americans are returning to the US. PLEASE! I have been doing research with the American Embassy here and in London and so far the "The Consular Affair News" or at least part are that If you need financial assistance, you should consider contacting family and friends either in the United Kingdom or the United States, to see if they can book a hotel for you or wire funds. For information on wiring funds, see the Embassy’s website for money transfer services through Western Union.
Thank you so very much for any idea, suggestion or advice!

UK: Question about travel insurance/pre-existing medical conditions?

Holiday Travel Insurance | Posted by admin
Feb 26 2010

I had what they called a "unexplained sponteneous episode of haemoptysis" last Feb (basically my lungs filled up with blood which I coughed up) and was hospitalised for two weeks. This was over a year ago and my doctor says it’s perfectly safe for me to fly/go abroad. However, I was never diagnosed with any illness or condition as they did numerous tests and couldn’t find the cause of what happened. My doctor says it was just "one of those things", that I probably just had a very weak blood vessel that leaked and that my symptoms do not add up to any known condition.

I am going on holiday next month to Holland and Germany. Because I have not been offically diagnosed with anything, do I need to get travel insurance for somebody with a pre-exisiting medical condition? Each company website has a list of conditions, but obviously I cannot say I have any.

If I get "normal" travel insurance, for people without illnesses or conditions, will I be covered should I get any future episodes of haemoptysis whilst I am abroad?

I am so confused. Things would be so much easier if I actually had a proper name for what I have… but "haemoptysis" is not a condition.

HELP!! I am flying from England (I am English) and then will be travelling throughout Holland and Germany for just over a week.
Before anybody tells me not to get travel insurance because my E111 card covers anything, that’s wrong. That just covers you for basic medical care.

Jan 24 2010

i am thinking of going to england for 2.5 weeks in july. i will be staying with family and won’t be travelling out of the city i’m in, but will be going out to bars each night. i would like to have a bit of a buffer of money due to unforseen events, and was just wondering how many pounds i would need for the week, just for food and drink and play (i.e. NOT including airfares or travel insurance). Thanks.

Why are most Americans poor?

Comprehensive Travel Insurance | Posted by admin
Jan 20 2010

compared to Britian and Europe? A large percentage have never been abroad and most likely never will unlike the British who travel around Europe even if they come from a poor background. Only the very rich come to England. You health care system is appalling which 50% of the population cannot afford insurance. Anything is cheaper as most people can not afford buy things. People from England can travel the world and get a good exchange rate for the pound unlike the dollar.

How do i get birth control without insurance and what are the costs? Please help!?

Travel Health Insurance | Posted by admin
Nov 20 2009

Hi, I have recently moved to New York City from England, I am on a tourist visa, I’m not a resident and my birth control has run out. In the UK we don’t need health insurance so I’m not sure how it all works over here. I hope some one can give me some advice.

As a non resident can I just call any doctor and make an appointment? If so how much abouts will it cost? ( I only have travel insurance and am pretty sure they wont cover birth control!)
How much is the birth control? Also do you have to be a U.S resident to go to the Planned Parenthood clinics? I looked at their website online and you have to enter a social security no. which I don’t have.

Any help and advice would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks in advance!!

My Parents visiting from England and health insurance in the US? HELP?

Travel Health Insurance | Posted by admin
Aug 26 2009

My parents come to visit from England every few years and in the past we were able to get them a Short Term Major Medical Policy for the 6-8 Week they were in the US. Now with there health they are most likely not going to qualify for it. Can anyone tell me how the Socialized medicine of England works if they get ill here in the US ( if at all) and what are some other options for them. They are scared to travel with out being covered in the US.

Health insurance for Aussie moving to Canada?

Holiday Travel Insurance | Posted by admin
Jul 04 2009

I am moving to Canada on a working holiday visa in the next few months. Can anyone tell me how health insurance works there?

I have just spent the past few years in England and Italy, which Australia both have reciprocal health agreements with. When I landed in hospital in either country (accident prone one here) it was free as were doctor visits.

Does Australia have a similar agreement with Canada or am I going to have to fork out for travel insurance?

Thanks!

Our familly’s holiday was delayed which cost us over £3000, HELP!!!!!?

Holiday Travel Insurance | Posted by admin
Jun 22 2009

living on the isle of man meant that we needed to get to our airport to catch to catch the plane going to england and then get that plane to the US, however due to fog the IOM plane was cancelled meaning that we missed the US flight and the fore had to book a whole new holiday, in short this cost us over £3000 more than it should have done , however because the flight was not delayed over 24 hours (it was 20) all we got from our travel insurance was £80, there seems to be no solution, is there anything we can do?!
(i have missed alot of detail so if you need anymore please ask!!!) and just for the record im not blaming anyone, i know its not the airports fault!

thanks in advance

Medical/Travel Insurance Providers Expatriates?

Comprehensive Travel Insurance | Posted by admin
Apr 08 2009

Hi, I will be living and hopefully working in Spain for anything from 6 months to over a year.

I am getting the new E111 card thing and am wondering if I should get some kind of medical insurance on top of it. I don't want travel insurance that will cover baggage etc. And actually I'm not really bothered about insurance and have travelled many times outside of Europe without it… but what happens if my luck is over… (which it seems to be lately)

Well basically, I have been searching for travel insurance initially but I want something alot cheaper than the £65 I found… plus it might be difficult to change the dates since I don't know when I'll be coming back to England.

Is medical insurance generally cheaper than travel insurance? I have applied for a quote from 2 companies but I have to wait until after the weekend for them to call me… which they probably wont.

Is it worth getting extra medical coverage other than the e111 card thing which is free anyway! yay!
I'll only be living over there, and I don't have insurance in my own country and I've been to more countries that are considered "dangerous" than in europe and I actually feel like I'm more likely to be injured etc in England than anywhere else.

The only time I'll come across the british over there is if I spend a few days travelling south to dose up on kebab meat.
but I don't think it'll be possible to buy insurance to travelling to "british areas in spain" …

I think I've answered my own question actually, I wont get insurance!
Does any company offer insurance for day visits to Homerton in london?
