Obamacare will become a single payer system as private insurance companies drop health insurance. The quality will be poor. There will be long waits for medical treatment. A lot of medicines and medical treatments will be denied. Because of this only those who have no choice will use it. There will be two other systems operating in this country. One will be a cash only system that operates in this country. Because the costs only the rich will be able to afford it. Then there will be a 3rd system that operates outside the United States. Because it will operate outside the United States, US laws will not apply. The means the insurance companies can sell insurance to just who they want do and deny those they don’t want do. Also it will be very hard if not impossible to sue for malpractice. Because of this the costs will be where middle Americans can afford it. This of course means these people will have to travel to this country for medical treatment. As part of their health insurance policy they will probably also have a medical evacuation policy.

If you can make it through the novel and give me suggestions, I’d greatly appreciate it.
I graduated from college, with a BS in Biology. I got accepted into MS programs, but unfortunately there wasn’t enough funding for a TA position, so a Master’s degree is not an option without funding.
The jobs that I am qualified for pay around 00/month. My student loans payments easily take up more than half of this pay, if not more, and I cannot afford much after the student loans. For example, health insurance, car insurance, etc and don’t want to choose between necessities. (I live very frugally)
Currently, I am examining whether to try and reapply for school in the following fall or look into the various armed forces?
I would just like some outside input, before going to talk to recruiters, colleges, again.
Option 1) Search for an entry level job and apply for graduate school in the fall of 2011.
CONS: No guarantee that I would be able to get funded, again
Student loans will be delayed 3 more years, adding interest
Be around younger, immature college crowd for 3 more years.
Many jobs in biology require a MS, so I will still be at "the bottom rung"
when I get out.
If I did get funding, I was told it is very little and most students take out loans for health care, etc. More debt.
Option 2) AF/Navy/Coast guard.
I am looking for a change in pace, purpose if you will. I don’t mind traveling, love meeting new people, etc. I am disciplined, enjoy structure, and thrive in a team setting, enjoy physical activity, don’t mind demanding hours, and can wake up at 5am
I also don’t want to take things for granted, and think the military would help with that. Also, no criminal background, etc.
PROS
I can earn tuition assistance, and pursue a MS, most likely online. It would be different experience than just getting a master’s, and I would have real-life experience I couldn’t get while in school. Also, the Navy pays for college loans if I go enlisted, although I am more interested in the right job as opposed to money. (Also, benefits such as health care which I couldn’t afford other wise)
Questions…
How hard is it to pursue a higher degree (MS) while in each of these forces?
It is improbable to think I could earn a degree while I am on active duty?
I am interested in science/lab/research/conservation/protection etc. and was wondering the different opportunities offered?
(I looked into oceanography in the Navy, MST in CG, and AF scientist)
If I chose not to make a career out of Navy/CG/AF, how hard is transition back into the civilian world?
Will my military experience help me in finding a job/career after I am out?
(I have noticed during my job search, there is a lot of preference for veterans)
Any various pros/cons in military life?
How difficult is getting into the Coast Guard?
How difficult is being an Officer in the Coast Guard?
Is there a difference between being an E-3 in the CG as opposed to other branches?
I know it is the military, so danger is inevitable, but how dangerous is it, on average?
(I don’t have any children, but I do have family and they worry.)
Treatment of women in the military?
Basically, I am trying to look 5 to 6 years into the future.
If I go back to school, I will get out with more debt, and no job experience, just another degree. If I go to, say the CG, I can possibly get a degree and 4 years of experience or even come out debt free if I go into the Navy. I could also get experience that “corporate America” couldn’t offer in each of the forces, but they are a very big commitment.
Anyone in the same “boat”?
Such as health insurance, living on base, better jobs, better salary..etc I would to join one where i can travel alot like the marines. Which is the best in your opnion. I heard the national guard offers you the best bonuses and benefits.
I’m a resident in the USA and I want to travel to Europe, to apply for the visa i need to have medical health/travel insurance and i have to summit an official letter stating that the insurance will be valid for Europe, it has coverage of at least .000 and it has coverage for emergencies. I just called my health insurance company and they dont provide any of the things i need. Where can i get one that does? (I dont have so much time before the trip)
We are a Team Of 8 people. Passport, Birth Certificate, VISA, Citizenship ID, International Driver’s License, Federation of Motor Sport Clubs of India (FMSCI) License, Voter’s ID, Latest Master Health Check Up File, Proof Of Sufficient Funds, Registration Certificate Book of Vehicle with modifications endorsement, International Insurance Of Vehicle, International Health Insurance for Individuals, Emission Test of Vehicle and Letter Of Recommendation From Central Govt. of India for all Individuals is what I think is required. Have I missed out on anything Important? I don’t want to take a chance.
I’m planning a trip to greece this summer for 3 months (may 17-aug 15) — what type of health insurance do I need? I’m 27 and have no pre existing conditions.
I’ve found myself unemployed way before our current recession. I worked crummy telemarketing jobs with really sleazy people. I worked really late hours, and weekends. I traveled 50 mile round trips to an office daily out of state. Drew unemployment benefits, and filled out hundreds of applications online and in person. I wore old clothes out-of-date. I wanted to keep a roof over my head, and not go to a shelter. I had no health insurance a lot of times, and went for care at the Health Dept. What crummy jobs did you take?
My question is are YOU willing to do these things if you have to? If you’ve never been in an unemployed situation before it bad news.
The main reason we want to get married soon is so I can be put on his health insurance, but we wouldn’t be telling anyone soon. We would either renew our vows on a cruise or something like that, but we really do want to be able to have a celebration more so for our friends and families than for ourselves (I also don’t like being the center of attention so want to avoid the wedding for that part…)
What do you think? Would people be okay with this? We want to have a full reception with a complete meal and a lot of the other traditions – first dance, cutting cake, etc. – what do you think?
Again – we aren’t doing it because of costs or family issues so much as the fact we will probably obtain a legal marriage before then.
I want to be to rent a decent 2-3bed room apt. Have a car. Eat out at least twice a week. Have decent cloths(but not too expensive). Travel once a year for 10 days. Health insurance. And at the end of the year, still have money to save.
Would you try to go to another country where you could get a legal abortion? Would you try to illegally obtain one in your own country if you couldn’t travel? Or would you resign yourself to going through with the pregnancy?
Bonus question: What if you also didn’t have health insurance? Would that effect your decision, the prospect of having to go through a pregnancy with limited access to proper medical care?
NOTE: Those that have moral objections to abortion, or who simply wouldn’t want to have an abortion themselves can skip this question as it is not pertinent to you.
I was stung by either a bee or a wasp on my calf about a week ago. I didn’t freak out, simply cleaned it, looked for a stinger (there wasn’t one) and put some cortisone cream on it. It seemed to be fine until two days ago it started itching AROUND the sting area…It is now an itchy, raised rash spanning about 4 inches across and 7 inches long – traveling toward my ankle. I looked up online to which several sources say it can either be a mild allergic reaction, which I can take Benadryl for, (which I’m allergic to, lol, so that’s out) or it may be a bacterial skin infection which requires antibiotics. It did NOT say anywhere how to tell WHICH of the two it may be. I don’t have health insurance… so I need HELP! I’m to attend a wedding in 2 weeks and I’m all legs…this is ugly and the itch is making me insane, I’m not scratching, but I’m a tad worried not just about the look of it but if if it is infected I would suspect that I need some sort of treatment quickly even though I don’t have a fever, I feel pretty yuck…? All I can think to do at this point is ice and antibiotic ointment, but it’s not getting any better. Please do not say go to the doctor, NO insurane, cannot afford it. ANY home-remedy help would be appreciated…
Almost two years ago, I had a medical test done in a mobile lab that travels around to different places. My health insurance company ended up denying my claim ,and a billing company began billing me for the cost, which was roughly 00.
I called up the billing company and asked if they would be willing to accept the amount that my insurance *would* have paid if they had not denied my claim, which was around00. They said that I had to send them the request in writing and they would pass it on to the test provider.
I have sent them four different requests for this (three by certified mail) and I cannot get any response other than more bills. Finally I found online the address of the medical provider, and sent them the request directly (instead of going through the billing company). They returned it to me, saying that I needed to send any requests through the billing company.
So far I have been paying between and 0 a month, but am incredibly annoyed that they will not respond to my requests to settle this debt. I’m not sure what else to do.
My girlfriend and I are both RT’s looking to travel next year and we were wondering about different travel companies that anyone recommends. Specifically we are looking at San Diego and I’m curious if any companies offer health insurance.
This might be long, sorry.. Okay, so I am 21 and I have been married almost 3 years now. I moved in with him when I was 17 and we’ve always had fiights, as I know every couple does. Problem is, we fight physically. He has never hit me (just the occasional pushing, spitting, shaking and throwing me), however I can not say the same bc i have punched him before in the heat of the moment, and i know that is never ok. He is mentally abusive too (i’m a slut, my mom doesnt love me, I’m fat, I’ll never find anyone to love me like he does bc im so ugly and/or F’d up in the head.. etc) =( I know we both have anger management problems but when we fight, about 2 out of every 10 times, it gets physical with us. Over stupid stuff, like I won’t want to have sex, or I’m not talking enough.. etc. He started tattooing two years ago, and he "loves" his job. Wants to move around and tattoo & travel in different places. I am boring I guess, b/c I’m perfectly happy working at a bank, and having health insurance and 401k. I have tattoos but I’m not really that into them now that its his life, basically. He is miserable here in AL and feels "stuck" in our home (we bought from my mom) and between all the fights, and having nothing in common, we’re not the same anymore. Problem is, I just don’t know what to do. My gut is telling me to leave, but I do love him. However, its been to this point of about to file before & I’ve came back b/c it was the "easy" thing to do. I feel its going to be the same thing a month down the road where we get into a knockdown drag out fight and I leave and he cries and begs me back (even though its both our faults, im not saying it isnt). I love him so much, but while we’re still young I feel its best to just get it over with before we both become depressed, more resentful, and god forbid, have a child (we tried to get pregnant for 2mos then stopped, must have been a sign from god. i dont know why i think i thought it would make us better) But i’m scared. And he is too I just dont think he can mentally handle a divorce, he’s scared to be alone, but we’re both financially stable enough to go our separate ways so income is not an issue.
The only thing that I see being a problem is our house. Both our names are on it, and he wont want to stay here if we get divorced & he’ll want to move back to TN with his mom. Is me living in it until i can get it sold, an option? I care very much about my credit and banking is an industry I’d like to stay in. I’m thinking we wont argue about assets, so is online divorce an option? I don’t have k just laying around for a divorce. And if I file, do I have to pay for it?
I’m just scared he’ll do something crazy (once when i tried to leave, he pulled gun to his head [unloaded but i didnt know that] and his mom made me feel like a b*tch about it so i came back. We’ve tried to make it work, he still wants to, but I’m not so sure. If we’re going to wind up divorced one day anyway, I’d rather get it over now. I love him so much and want him to continue a career that he loves but I don’t think I’m strong enough for that and I want to go to school as well…
He’s just so emotional, I can see him begging me back, and if I wont take him back, running my name into the dirt and being very mean to me, if I decide to go through with the divorce.
After you divorced, how did you feel? Did you feel like you made a mistake? How soon were you able to get on with your life, and were you embarrassed to tell everyone that your marriage failed.
I work on film crews. It an be a long time between movie projects, so I deliver pizzas between crews instead of going on unemployment like many of my film crew buddies. I also own some crappy land, which I inherited, that won’t sell. It’s just sitting there on the market, screwing me out of qualifying for anything and everything my tax dollars are used for in the way of entitlement funding.
I live in a travel trailer. As soon as I have to start paying an upwards of 0 a month for health insurance that is only going to go up, up and up now that pre-existing conditions must be covered, I’m going to have to move into a tent.
What part of this is "affordable?"
My "ex" selected me to be her "mark" to swindle thousands of dollars from. She selected me to swindle AFTER she realized that she no longer was entitled to "legally" obtain ANY kind of Visa to travel to the U.S.A. (Moral Turpitude………aka Child Abuse/Neglect).
This decision to swindle (ESTAFA), was done BEFORE she went online to select a victim! After taking thousands from me, she "moved out after only 9 days of marriage" (when she realized I had no more money to steal)!
She was working illegally in 2006, (in addition to the "con"), committed Insurance Fraud in 2007 (several claims), then failed to report this "income" to the IRS, (tax fraud)?
She is now targeting my BROTHER for her "con" as she is sleeping with him to try and obtain money and trips (Las Vegas) from him, AND TALKING MARRIAGE to prevent her deportation at the end of her two year Conditional Residency!
If I file a Police Report (if the DA prosecutes or not), will it aid my efforts to have her deported?
Joe,
Of course I want my money back (fat chance). She has defrauded me into Bankruptcy!! At age 46 I now have to start ALL OVER AGAIN!! She is still filing FRAUDULANT insurance claims on MY health Insurance! And if she is NOT deported at the end of her Conditional Residency …….I am financially responsible for her and her son for 8 more years!!!
So she steals me blind, goes to trips to Las Vegas on the money she stole while I lose EVERYTHING I own……….and I am supposed to do nothing and just give her a SH*T eating grin while she does it??? Oh did I mention that while she was SO IN LOVE with me (married) she was already sleeping with my brother??
cat,
Gee I don’t know,………..maybe because she only TOLD me everything that SHE wanted me to know, and the "officials" in her country are either blind (or corrupt) to provide her a "clean background check". This is my first personal contact with a CON ARTIST, do the ones you know come with a sign on their foreheads as a "WARNING"??
I am buying plane tickets to costa rica and nicaragua through cheaptickets.com. When entering my information, I am given the option to add Ticket Protector Plus through Access America for an additional .43. It looks like some sort of insurance program. Does anyone know anything about this service?
I can’t tell if this is an alternative to other travel health insurance that would normally cost 0 to 0.
Here is a link to the terms and conditions:

I am currently 26 years old living in Fl. I have an overwhelming urge to travel…and travel more than a week. I prefer and seek to travel with a backpack and my trade skills to support me for as long as I can till I must return. My dilemma is I am a Type I Diabetic and rely solely on insulin shots daily for meals. I can buy my scripts in 3 months packs, provided I have health insurance, which I do by my employer. If I quit to travel abroad for X amount of weeks, months, maybe years, how does one even make this happen? How is health care abroad and can I seek medication to survive on a daily basis with my condition? Can I set up scripts overseas? How if any way possible , can I make my dream come true but in the safest and healthiest way possible. I would basically need access to reasonably priced medications wherever I end up ( UK, Italy, Spain etc. )
I just moved to Honolulu, HI and need to find a friendly family dentist in Honolulu. I have health insurance through Hawaii Dental Service, or HDS. I have been looking online, but am not sure which ones to trust. I have had a bad experience before with dentists charging me for services that I didn’t need or not working with my insurance. I would prefer a dentist who is open on Saturdays as I work during the week downtown. Also, a dentist who is easy to get into and has free parking would be great as I would really like to get a checkup soon and hate the downtown Honolulu parking rates. I am willing to travel a little out of Honolulu if it is easy to get to and has free parking. I don’t need anything fancy – I just want an honest dentist who accepts insurance and won’t rip me off. Any recommendations?
Ok, so this Health Insurance option thing…i’ve read articles about it, and I just don’t understand it. I’ve been working a lot lately, so would someone please explain to me exactly what it is?
One thing I’ve come across that concerns me is that we would be fined 5000 a year to NOT have insurance. Does this apply to everyone in the country without some form of insurance or medicare already?
What about the homeless? Will they be fined? What about independent contractors? The Gypsies? College Students? I’ve spent years as a college student, with little to no work, traveling on my breaks from city to city, camping, selling jewelry for gas money. Thousands live this lifestyle all the time and never get an actual job. Will these people be fined 5000 dollars a year? Will the bum on the corner begging for change be expected to pay for health insurance that could cost thousands of dollars or a hefty fine when he’s struggling just to keep warm?
When I heard the idea that people with preexisting health conditions could get insurance, I thought it sounded like a great idea. But I didn’t think about the problem…someone never pays for the insurance, gets in a car accident and calls up saying "oh yeah i want insurance now", Insurance, the very word, means to be insured that if you pay a company to remain a business, they will always be there when you do fall ill. What is stopping people from getting insurance for 2 days, get insurance rates, and then cancel the next week? This means those who actually abide by the policies will inadvertently pay for the people who will screw the system over. Pre-existing conditions….it does really suck to be born with a terrible illness like epilepsy for instance…but to allow just anyone with preexisting conditions?
I have been against the "Free Health Care" idea for a while. Though it sounds nice, it’s just one of those ideas that won’t work, will put us in debt , won’t be fair to anyone, ruin the health care system in general, and the government will likely destroy everything about it. However, as irresponsible as it is, I would rather pay extra taxes and have the public option. I’d rather pay extra for others to be covered, rather than getting fined 5000 dollars because I refused to live the way the government expects me to. I’d rather pay more taxes than see the government pass an unconstitutional bill and MONOPOLIZE millions of business.(and this is coming from a Tea Party Patriot…)
So could someone explain this to me?
Homeless people go to free clinics or have medicaid? Not all of them, but even if that was the case, they’d still be forced to pay?
Yes you get fined if you don’t have an address! Not to mention, if you don’t pay this fine you could go to jail.

This one DOES answer my first and initial question, but what in the hell is the POINT of making the rich pay for insurance, when the POOR are the ones that really need it? So I can’t be sure if this is actually accurate. I simply don’t have time to read the 1000 page billl.
http://www.rushlimbaugh.com/home/daily/site_030810/content/01125111.guest.html
What they are doing is making insurance NOT insurance, forcing people who are more likely to pay for healthcare in the first place to get insurance, even if they don’t like it, and leaving the poor out anyway. Some bleeding hearts. Sounds like a load of crap to me
Wait, did you seriously just ask me why would anyone buy health insurance and cancel it? LOL
Tell me your joking.
Well let’s see. I get sick, but never bought insurance. I want to go to the doctor, but SHIT, I don’t have insurance? I make a phone call, have them deduct so much out of my bank account to go to the doctor, pay the deductible, save hundreds, maybe thousands of dollars. I go home cancel my plan, and don’t get billed every month for the rest of the year. I just got a discount because the government forced the insurance companies to let me get away with it! What a bunch of morons! Now, all those poor suckers who decided they needed health insurance all the time, pay larger amounts to cover what they might need for health care in the future, and took care of mine!
Requiem, I had already acknowledged that since it was in "Add Details" long after I posted the question. Now my questions are HOW does this help poor people? How does this entire situation NOT increase insurance premiums? How can you call it insurance at all anymore?
Statistics show that over 77 million Americans struggle through life without a car. I propose that we all get free transportation, maybe an Escalade or a Hummer for all Americans. It is every Americans right to be able to travel around without being oppressed by the rising costs of transportation. The other day a capitalist pig mechanic said I couldn’t get my car back unless I paid him for the work that he did. Another case of "The Man" sticking it to us common folk, at least if I don’t have health insurance the hospital still has to treat me for free. Who agrees that this country needs leadership who will give us free stuff?
What documents/insurance do I need when travelling to Amsterdam from the UK.
I have a valid British passport.
I also had a Europian Health Insurance Card but I have lost that along with my National Insurance Card.
i work for a small company (5 employees) so we do not have a health plan.
i don’t have health insurance, but for my own and my families sake, i should get some.
how can i get affordable coverage that i can rely on. i don’t want some healthplan where i have to single out a clinic for all my needs (i travel alot throughout the country, so it should be a plan that is accepted in most states)
plus i’ve heared about aflac as a supplement insurance that covers some basic things) ideas, suggestions?
My ex has claimed our son on his 2009 income taxes both fed and state. we recently went to court for custody and child support. we were awarded joint custody but physical custody is with me. he has to pay weekly for child support which is almost equivalant to how much i make a week plus he has to put our son on his health insurance. presently my ex has not paid me a dime for child support. due to me having insurance thru the state, the state is handling our child support so now the support will be garnished from his paycheck. since we are now seperated and i can not afford daycare i had to change my hours at work i currently work 15hrs at one job plus about 10-12 hrs in self employment. my ex’s lawyer had tried to argue that he should claim the child every year for both fed and state because i don’t make enough money and he has to pay support plus put him on his insurance, and i wouldn’t collect much from taxes and he would collect a lot more. but my arguement is im the main caregiver, my ex has him 6hrs during the week plus 5hrs on the weekend. to me thats like letting your babysitter claim your child. he has received his income taxes back and used NONE of what he got back for his child (he hasn’t paid me any support voluntarly hence the reason the state will be garnishing his wages), instead he has used it for his own selfishness (he purchased a new expensive phone, another dog and is going on a cruise in may and has forfited one of his assigned holidays with our son to go on this particular cruise). My lawyer has decieded to object to his second motion filing of being able to claim him and that we will let the judge decide for a second time because the first judge completely rejected their request for him to claim our son ever. im just nervous that the second judge may agree with them because i no longer make a significgant amount of money and because i have state health insurance and receive food stamps.
Hi, I am travelling to South America in 4 weeks and as I am coming out of being a full time student I will be doing it on the cheap.
I already have accomodation paid for, and also my air tickets. I just have to get a bus to Ecuador from Lima.. and my budget is about 00usd for 2 months, or usd a day. If I don’t have to pay for accomodation, do you think this would be enough to live over there? I know those countries are pretty cheap anyway… (dont worry.. I have travel/health insurance paid for too) haha..
