I need a travel insurance that covers flights and medical care, i didn’t found on expedia.com. Where’s?
Now i can only deal flight insurance (18$ a person)

When I was at the store a few hours ago, I saw the cover of the current US News and World Report magazine. I didn’t read it, but the cover story is on medical tourists. Medical tourists are Americans who go to other countries, especially India, for medical care because of the outrageous cost of health care here in America. However, I wouldn’t think that medical care abroad would be covered by insurance( I know my insurance doesn’t cover it), so I’d think it would still cost a lot of money. Plus, there’s the high expense of travel. So how can going to Asia for medical care save that much money? If you’ve been a medical tourist yourself, please share. Thank you.
Okay. I have a friend in Texas who has two hernias; a hiatal hernia and an umbilical hernia. He has liver difficulties and no one in the USA (not even Canada) will operate on him. I have heard of hospitals in different countries (Mexico, India) who will perform operations. I have also heard that the quality of medical care is comparable to that of the U.S. (maybe not India, but I have heard Costa Rica is good) I’ve also read an article recently that more Americans are choosing to go to different countries because of lack of medical insurance and or financial needs. Has anyone heard of this drastic measure, and if so can you give me the pros and cons of embarking on such a journey? I realize it is a risky situation (also, my friend is 51 years old.) but some people have had good results from traveling to foreign hospitals for health care. I need an informed opinion ASAP. Thank you.
The reason my friend cannot get medical attention here in the U.S. is because he has very serious liver problems. I realize this is a HUGE risk, but he is suffering. Basically, no doctor here will operate on him because his liver is so bad that he was told he might die if he went under anesthesia (sp). I realize this is crazy of him to do this, but he is desperate. I am trying to Google sites to locate reputable hospitals in different countries. And you’d be surprised, because many Americans are going this route.
