We purchased a package to Cancun about a week ago. (We did not get travel insurance). Now were hearing about this swine flu all over the news, and I am really worried. I called Expedia, and they said that we will get our money back for the hotel if we decide to cancel, but there will be a 0 per person penalty for the flight. So were basically going to lose 0 if I cancel, or we can risk it and go. I am also 3.5 months pregnant, so I need to consider that as well. Are there any reports of the flu in Cancun? Our plane is also stopping in Texas…
My family and I planned and booked a trip to Playa Del Carmen about three months ago. We are set to leave next Saturday. We knew that we would go, so we didn’t get travel insurance. But, there is no way we could’ve planned for a possible pandemic. Is it advisable to go with all the reported cases of swine flu?
After careful consideration, barring any official travel warning for Playa Del Carmen and the surrounding areas, I have decided to go. It seems that worrying about it at this point is almost the same as worrying about drug violence in other parts; Pretty much useless.
We are going on a Carnival cruise in Oct. Apparently there is supposed to be another outbreak of Swine Flu in the fall. One of our ports is Cozumel what would happen in the event of a swine flu outbreak? Would we just go to another port instead? Also, what if there is a hurricane? If we do not have the trip insurance would we lose all of our money?
im going to china for a 5 week holiday next week. if for example i get swine flu and become quarantined and cannot come back to england on time. without a travel insurance, will i have to pay for the new flight ticket, medical treatment, and hotel?
if i have travel insurance, how do i claim ecerything back? what are the procedures? Do i keep the receipts, (although they are going to be in chiense)???
I have booked a trip to Mexico for the 26th May. My tour operator have said that flights are cancelled until 13th May and that after this time all cancellation charges apply. Meaning if we cancel our holiday they will take 70 – 100% of what we paid (which is a lot!)
My travel insurance won't cover me nor will my credit card.
Surely they can't justify keeping my money if i cancel because of swine flu?
The reason I would want to cancel is that if we did go the resort will be deserted, as many holiday makers would of re-booked elsewhere and many of the bars and restaurants would be closed too….plus it's just put a grey cloud over the whole holiday ![]()
I will be off to USA for a short course which lasts about 3 months. I am teenager from Asia and at present do not have any travel/ medical insurance plans.
Could anyone recommend cheap deals which mainly covers the following areas please?
* Trip Coverage (delays/cancellations)
* Baggage Coverage
* Medical Coverage

I found a plan by STA: http://book.statravel.com/staglobe/Insur…

Thank You!!
My daughter and her boyfriend just broke up. They had booked a cruise in July. The tickets were paid for on her grandmothers credit card. There was verbal agreement that the boyfriend would pay for his share of the cruise ticket only.
Now he is saying he doesn't have to pay because there is nothing written down with his Signature !
The cruise ticket is in his name and my daughters name. She did not get insurance on these tickets.
The grandmother who put this on her credit card is the second witness to the verbal agreement and also witness them talking about what and what not to bring on the cruise.
Should I take him to small claims court ? He had already said he doesn't want to pay for we have nothing in writing.
I believe he is wrong, and that I have a case for the money's owed back, even if there is nothing in writing.
*The cruise is for Mexico/ no insurance ! Can we get 1 refund because of the Swine Flu ?
Yes, they called the cruise ship, and they reduced the ticket to 0 for cancelling.
Now we just have to deal with him paying the 0 back !
Thank you ![]()
I paid apple vacations in full for a one weeks trip to cancun for our honeymoon but we had no idea that this swine flu was going to occur?
What can we do since we declined insurance? Can we try to negotiate a trip elsewhere? I'm willing to sue them if they don't negotiate with me. That's 1,700 gone! Help! any advice?
