Cancun May 19th…Should I cancel due to Swine Flu?

Travel Insurance Online | Posted by admin
Jun 27 2010

We purchased a package to Cancun about a week ago. (We did not get travel insurance). Now were hearing about this swine flu all over the news, and I am really worried. I called Expedia, and they said that we will get our money back for the hotel if we decide to cancel, but there will be a 0 per person penalty for the flight. So were basically going to lose 0 if I cancel, or we can risk it and go. I am also 3.5 months pregnant, so I need to consider that as well. Are there any reports of the flu in Cancun? Our plane is also stopping in Texas…

Should I go to Playa Del Carmen next week?

Family Travel Insurance | Posted by admin
Mar 08 2010

My family and I planned and booked a trip to Playa Del Carmen about three months ago. We are set to leave next Saturday. We knew that we would go, so we didn’t get travel insurance. But, there is no way we could’ve planned for a possible pandemic. Is it advisable to go with all the reported cases of swine flu?
After careful consideration, barring any official travel warning for Playa Del Carmen and the surrounding areas, I have decided to go. It seems that worrying about it at this point is almost the same as worrying about drug violence in other parts; Pretty much useless.

Can someone explain what is so horrendous about government requiring you to purchase health insurance?

Travel Health Insurance | Posted by admin
Nov 20 2009

You can be thrown in jail for not paying taxes, state governments require you purchase car insurance (yes I realize you can choose not to own a car, so it isn’t exactly the same thing, but nothing is, is it?!), we are required to have a passport to travel out of the country, etc.. If you think about it, we are required to have and do a lot of things by both state and federal government.

So why shouldn’t we be required to purchase health insurance?. After all, if someone gets swine flu, measles or whatever, they can pass that on to the rest of us. And we all end up paying for people that don’t have insurance anyway when they end up in the emergency room. I don’t care how healthy you think you are, accidents happen, often through no fault of your own.

I hear people complaining all the time about how people need to be more responsible for themselves and if they aren’t they should pay the consequences and go to jail. So, why shouldn’t they be held accountable for not buying health insurance, when by not being responsible, they are spreading illness, disease and higher prices on the rest of us?
Isn’t a passport a product, too?

Didn’t government just require that we all buy new television sets, cable or a box just to watch something that used to be free?

Weren’t certain states just talking about government requiring people to buy identification cards? Isn’t that a product, too.
I keep hearing mentioned that requiring health coverage taking away your freedom, yet aren’t you taking away a woman’s freedom to control her own body when you have government require her to have a baby?

Also, aren’t you taking away someone’s freedom when you don’t allow gay people to marry?

Aren’t you taking away someone’s freedom when you don’t allow them to use medicinal marijuana?

Didn’t Purchase Trip Insurance for Our Cruise?

Insurance For Trip | Posted by admin
Aug 26 2009

We are going on a Carnival cruise in Oct. Apparently there is supposed to be another outbreak of Swine Flu in the fall. One of our ports is Cozumel what would happen in the event of a swine flu outbreak? Would we just go to another port instead? Also, what if there is a hurricane? If we do not have the trip insurance would we lose all of our money?

Does anyone know how to get your money back for a cancelled trip to Mexico due to swine flu?

Holiday Travel Insurance | Posted by admin
Jun 07 2009

I have booked a trip to Mexico for the 26th May. My tour operator have said that flights are cancelled until 13th May and that after this time all cancellation charges apply. Meaning if we cancel our holiday they will take 70 – 100% of what we paid (which is a lot!)

My travel insurance won't cover me nor will my credit card.

Surely they can't justify keeping my money if i cancel because of swine flu?
The reason I would want to cancel is that if we did go the resort will be deserted, as many holiday makers would of re-booked elsewhere and many of the bars and restaurants would be closed too….plus it's just put a grey cloud over the whole holiday :(

Help, I need legal advise on a cruise trip and the boyfriend bailed out and wont pay back the cruise ticket?

Cruise Insurance | Posted by admin
May 24 2009

My daughter and her boyfriend just broke up. They had booked a cruise in July. The tickets were paid for on her grandmothers credit card. There was verbal agreement that the boyfriend would pay for his share of the cruise ticket only.
Now he is saying he doesn't have to pay because there is nothing written down with his Signature !

The cruise ticket is in his name and my daughters name. She did not get insurance on these tickets.

The grandmother who put this on her credit card is the second witness to the verbal agreement and also witness them talking about what and what not to bring on the cruise.

Should I take him to small claims court ? He had already said he doesn't want to pay for we have nothing in writing.

I believe he is wrong, and that I have a case for the money's owed back, even if there is nothing in writing.

*The cruise is for Mexico/ no insurance ! Can we get 1 refund because of the Swine Flu ?
Yes, they called the cruise ship, and they reduced the ticket to 0 for cancelling.
Now we just have to deal with him paying the 0 back !
Thank you :)
