I’m studying abroad in Denmark from August through December. For the first 6 weeks of my stay (until October 8th), I will not be covered by the Danish national healthcare system. After October 8th, I will be covered by the Danish health care system.
The issue I’m having is that I don’t know if I should buy trip insurance for the entire trip (from Aug – Dec) that includes medical coverage and forego the Danish healthcare system, or should I buy 2 separate insurance plans, one for temporary health and one for non-health issues (like liability). Any advice would be appreciated!
Just to clarify — I’m trying to decide between these options:
1. Buy a temporary health insurance plan for 6 weeks (after which I’m covered by the Danish health system), and buy a separate insurance plan to cover all non-health issues for the entire trip.
OR
2. Buy one single comprehensive travel insurance plan that includes medical coverage. This plan would last the entire 5 months that I’m in Denmark. I’d forgo the Danish national health care system if I choose this option.
A US/Canadian citizen is seeking temporary health insurance to cover her while traveling to New York. She is currently pregnant and past her 30th week. She would be in the states for less than one week.
